In detail: do-it-yourself repair of the vag kkl diagnostic adapter from a real wizard for the site my.housecope.com.
Good afternoon. "Trouble" has happened. Such an adapter burned out (see photo) He just confused (+) with (-) for a second, after which he clicked and started to smoke slightly. Before that, I worked for 2 years without problems. An autopsy showed that the smoke came from LM 339, on which a hole 1mm in diameter "appeared". The adapter itself does not work after this case (previously only 7 legs and a feed were used). Tell me, pl. - will the replacement LM339 revive it? USB_KKL.jpgVAG-COMUSB_KKL-Line.rar
Solder LM. If the adapter without 12V is detected in the computer, change the LM. This is usually enough. If it is not determined, you also change FT. And there is nothing more to burn there. By the way, take a look at the LH, the upper voltage for LM seems to be not very high.
Replaced LM-ku (see photo). I put IL339D 1231 (produced, as I understand it, by the Minsk plant "Integral") THAT is the problem, or something else, but the adapter does not work. The native was LM339 22AJ6KM. With a burned-out LM, the adapter was detected in the computer, but did not work. The same after replacing the LM.
At the moment when the LM burned out, the seventh leg (k-line) of the adapter was connected to the diagnosed device. Maybe that's the problem.
Judging by the LH, they are identical. The next check is simple: connect the adapter to your USB, start any terminal and close 1 and 5 feet of FT232. Send any parcel and if you haven't received an echo - FT for a replacement. Otherwise, check those couple of resistors in harness 339. That's it.
After two times of polarity reversal, I soldered a diode to the input and now I am calm. Because it is not correct to connect the power supply by parking.
But with Drava on FT232, you need to be careful, the last firewood erases the identifier of the Chinese chip and then, in order to restore its performance, you need to break your head by reflashing it.
Video (click to play).
Well, to reverse the obd-2 connector - you have to be a very strong person.
I burned 3 such adapters (two of my own and one of my friend, he also received an adapter 2 + 2) when trying to diagnose an audi. “+” and “-” were mixed up in the adapter 2 + 2, the first time I encountered this. and it is interesting that when the VM9213 was connected to the same adapter, it survived, it still works with a bang. and the adapters were restored by replacing the LM339, one
In general, I did not bother with soldering FT, I soldered a new LM one more time (thinking that the previous one had overheated during soldering) - the adapter still did not work. And since there was no FT in a nearby store, it turned out that it was cheaper to buy a new adapter for a chirp than to fire benz in search of an FT. This is how our Chinese friends “help” us.
Later I learned that some people manage to buy such adapters for a nickel. What are there then FT-shki.
Continuity of transistors often helps. There are several of them, it happened that some
90% of VAG-COM 409 breakdowns are LM393. 10% transistor. There is a good adapter test in the VCD-lite program.
What kind of transistor? Here is a photo of the newly purchased adapter -
do not bother, there are no transistors in your adapter. As with any type of protection. And the output of the adapter is so low-current (339) that the connection to not every “brain” will survive. Hence the price. And with a transistor - this is the previous author of Ramsey beguiled. His adapter is different.
As it is written - LM died. Symptoms are the same: the computer “sees” the adapter, but does not connect to the blocks.
Recently burned by the overlap Kombiloder 1.4 + Kahn. The problem was solved by replacing the K-line + driver chip (in front of it) = about 50 rubles.

The adapters are assembled on different chips: FTDI (FT232R) and CH340. The adapter made on the FTDI chip (FT232R) outperforms the adapter on the cheap CH340 chip. In this regard, malfunctions of the adapter on the CH340 chip occur (there is no communication with the ECU, it may not work with low-speed ECUs, communication with the ECU is broken during operation, etc.) The adapter on the CH340 chip is much cheaper than the adapter on the chip FTDI (FT232R).
Photo taken from the online store:
If you bought an adapter with a CH340 chip and you have no connection with the ECU, try playing with COM ports and drivers, also try changing the baud rate in the WINDOWS settings and in the settings of the diagnostic programs. If you wish, you can convert the adapter with the CH340 chip to FTDI (FT232R). My advice to you, if you decide to buy an adapter, then buy with an FTDI chip (FT232R). Scheme:

Good day! There is a blue VAG KKL box with an FTDI FT232RL chip. I put firewood, in addition to 2 entries in the device manager (the port and USB-serial converter were installed normally), some unidentified device appeared. Is it possible to determine if the device is working at all without connecting it to the car? The VAG KKL utility, when testing the port, says Port OK, interface not found.
Another, Fiat one, sends ATZ and issues a timeout. This is a modem command, the adapter has a modem for communicating with the EBU, so the modem is not responding? Or does it not work without a car?

Greetings! Not connecting to the car - it is impossible. The “unknown device” needs to update the driver directly in the Manager (on the ftdi.com website or on our disk that comes with the adapter there is a VCP (virtual com port) driver). Moreover, after installing the driver, 1 more unknown device will appear. You must do the same with installing the drivers.
In general, the bottom line is that the cable interface itself is not visible until it is connected to the car with the ignition on.

Guys who have experience in repairing a VAG COM KKL adapter on an FTDI chip, what usually flies there and how to check it? The computer sees the COM port with it, but the connection with the ECU is not established, it worked only one day, it's a shame damn it.
hfmscan.rar (25-5-2016 21:02 loaded)
maybe it's just that it's confused with ports.
change the port speed. reinstall the driver.
maybe some other lace was installed - there was a change in the driver. (maybe. I do not approve)
Sooner or later, everyone's “good” Chinese adapter VAG-COM KKL 409.1 breaks down. The causes of failure can be different, the most common are power surges and improper operation. It is necessary to disassemble the topic of repair in more detail ...
Everything is simple here, we plug the USB 2.0 connector of our adapter into the switched off laptop. We connect the adapter to the diagnostic socket (the ignition key is not inserted). We turn on the laptop, launch the program, open the settings, press the test. If the computer does not respond to the adapter (there is no corresponding hardware in the task manager), then the CH340T microcircuit is probably faulty. It can be bought from the narrow-eyed brothers without any problems.
If the operating system responds to the adapter and there is a corresponding item in the task manager, then launch the VAG-COM program, go to the settings, start the car ignition and press the test (provided that the COM port is specified correctly). If the program writes Port status - OK, Adapter not found the 4-channel comparator LM339 is most likely faulty. In rare cases, such an error can be observed with a faulty fuse (diagnostic connector) or with an incorrect setting of the COM port speed, I will not analyze this topic, I think that there is plenty of information in the public domain.
Let's go back to our rams ... This comparator (LM339) can also be bought from Uncle Ali.
In my adapter, I replaced the two radio elements disassembled above. I ordered the CH340T microcircuit in a single copy, LM339 in the amount of 10 pieces (the price does not bite). The replacement process is not difficult (for the seasoned).I used a hair dryer on a soldering station and a soldering iron itself with a thin tip. We add flux to taste, heat it up to about 300 degrees (maybe higher, there are doubts about the readings of the station), remove the faulty one. Pay attention to the location of the microcircuit key (dot, indentation), it should be in the lower left corner. Next, we update the contact pads with a soldering iron and flux. We put a new microcircuit, center it and heat it again with a hairdryer. After setting, I once again go through each leg with a soldering iron. We wash off the flux with alcohol. That's all.
The other day on the dashboard began to light up "chek" (I have a Lada Kalina 1.6). I decided not to go to a car service, but to try to solve the reason on my own. As a result, I found out that to connect a laptop to a car, you need a VAG-COM KKL 409.1 adapter. I found such a cable on the Internet for about UAH 200. Diagnostics in a car service costs from 100 UAH, so that for 2-3 breakdowns the cable can be recouped.
But one cable is not enough for K-Line diagnostics. First you need to install the drivers.
If you have Win XP, then no problems should arise. A CD with drivers is included with the cable, install them and everything works. I have Windows 7 x64, the driver did not want to be installed. Having rummaged through the Internet, I found a suitable driver, installed it, everything worked. Be careful to plug the cable into the USB port before installing. Download vag kkl 409.1 driver.
Now we need to decide which program we will use to diagnose the car.
The disk, which came with the cable, also contained a diagnostic program, but it is in English. For those who are not a problem, can install it. I found a Russian-language program Diagnostic Tool... It is free, easy to use and its capabilities are enough for k-line car diagnostics. You can download the Diagnostic Tool here.
Now we have everything ready and we can proceed to the k-line diagnostics itself. As I wrote above, I have a Lada Kalina, so we will diagnose her. First you need to connect the cable to the diagnostic socket of the car. Kalina has it here:
Here ATTENTION - you need to connect the cable with the ignition off!
After connecting, launch the program. Now we make the necessary settings. Go to Connection / Parameters and in the "Ports" field select COM3.
The same port must be selected in the settings of the driver itself. We go to the "Device Manager" and find our driver "Ports (COM and LPT) / USB Serial CH340". Click on it with the right mouse button, properties and select everything, as shown in the picture:
Now you need to turn on the ignition and connect the program with the car controller. To do this, select in the program Connect / Establish a connection.
Below, in the "online" field, the countdown should go. This means that everything connected successfully. The engine can now be started. By scrolling through the program tabs, you can check the various motor parameters. But now we are interested in something else - to find out the reason for the "chek" sunburn.
Go to the "Fault / Reset" menu. All errors should be displayed here.
After troubleshooting, the error logs can be reset so that the next diagnostic does not confuse them with new ones.
Assemble the KKL VAG COM 409.1 yourself.
KKL VAG COM adapter provides full-functional diagnostics of all VAG group cars (Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat), produced from 1990 to 2005 (not supporting CAN bus). This adapter diagram allows you to connect the adapter to the USB port of a personal computer. The circuit is assembled on the FT232RL microcircuit.
The board has a 12V indication
The board is installed in a case with an OBD2 connector
The Vag Сom adapter can work with VAZ, Gaz and Daewoo, Mercedes, Volvo cars on the KL line.
Vag Com KKL features
1. Reading, decoding and deleting trouble codes 2. The adapter allows you to view the parameters of all sensors in real time 3. Coding and programming of control units 4. Carrying out adaptation and test of executive mechanisms
If you are interested in working with a soldering iron, you can order a separate board. The board is made at the factory from FR-4 material. It comes with a schematic diagram, a list of elements and an assembly drawing.
You can also buy a complete adapter.
The difference from the Chinese adapter is that all adapters are checked after assembly!

HBO. How to install, configure and diagnose the system0.00
This article is about how you can modify your Vag-Com adapter so that it has more possibilities for diagnosing a car with an OBD-II connector.
What is it for, you ask? Everything is very simple.
Firstly, not all VAG cars have two diagnostic lines K-line (7th contact) and L-line (15th contact). Some have only one K-line (7th pin) and some have two K-lines (7th pin and 15th pin). And to close the K-line (7th contact) and L-line (15th contact), as some do, is not always correct. If, for example, in your car the K-line line goes to two pins 7th and 15th contacts, then you can safely close them, but if you want to diagnose a neighbor, and he has two K-line lines (7th contact ) and L-line (15th pin), then your adapter with 7th and 15th pins closed will not work.
Let's see what we got:
Now we start packing it all into the adapter case:
Well, let's see what we did!
big switch
small switch
general form We draw conclusions: the large switch switches the 15th contact between the K-line and L-line lines, and the small one switches the 9th, 12th and 13th contacts to the K-line (7th contact). Now we have a Vag-Com adapter with advanced diagnostic capabilities.

A question for those in the know, has anyone modified the Chinese adapter kkl 409.1. At autopsy, it turned out that not all contacts of the diagnostic block are powered. On the Internet, I found an installation of switches with plug connections. Tell me who did
Good hour. Everything is very simple in the gap A switch "switch" is put on the line and switch it on to the contact that you need on the OBD. If there is no normal scanner, you can look at the ABS and others. Different programs and on some cars.

If you understand correctly, the k line is constantly on and you can connect abs and pillows to it through a switch? Or is the switch placed to break the k-line to see the other? The description says about setting the on-on switch, which means that one contact is on all the time, you will give birth to a k-line and those connectors that I connected to the match are connected to it. Hence, I have a question whether something terrible will happen if the contacts are closed, for example 7 and 13
With the help of a lace, I want to read the errors of the pillow, but this contact is not powered on the lace.
sanych303 07 Dec 2014
Well, pay attention that even in the car, not all contacts in the block are involved. Everyone knows that 4 contacts should be used in the calaynik. itself to the line power board network mass on 2 contacts (4 and 5) - you can do with one. What else do you need then? What are the switches and what are they for. What have you read there though share.
If you only make vases, then it is. But there are still many cars where even the K-Line of the engine is not connected to the 7th output of the OBD-2 block.I just use a cut-off block as an adapter, if there is a description of the switch, I would also be interested.

I added a link to the description of the switch, so I want to figure it out and do it. How correctly all this should work, will I harm the blocks if the contacts are closed through the switch

casperchik on the one hand to the "switch" K-line (common for all switches) and on the other hand "switch" through its switch to the desired contact of the OBD connector.
So the required contact is cut to the K-line?

So the required contact is cut to the K-line?
And so, we continue, today the Vag com lace or just the k-line adapter is on the agenda.
Many car owners who do not have a can-bus in their car, I think, are already familiar with this adapter. In fact, it is usually positioned as an adapter for the diagnosis of Volkswagen, but, in fact, there is a huge number of different programs for it.
Cars of the German automaker Volkswagen AG have won the recognition of drivers all over the world for a long time. Compared to other cars, the quality and equipment of German cars always remains at a decent level. However, any car needs regular diagnostics, and German cars are no exception.
Each concern has its own vehicle on-board computers. Accordingly, the diagnostics of each machine differs in its specific features, and hence the devices necessary for it. So, the German concern VAG has its own diagnostic computer, which is connected to the car using a special cord.
What can be done by installing VAG COM 409.1?
As in any program for car diagnostics, VAG KOM has a wide range of possibilities that can be used by installing the program. With the latest version of VAG RUS, the driver can:
register the newly installed equipment in the car;
find, fix, and also reset errors in the operation of the electronics of the machine;
get the necessary information about the control units of the car;
see all the current parameters of the sensors in the car, in digital values or in graphs;
set up automatically turning on daylight;
change the design of the radio in a car, etc.
Most of the actions required for an ordinary driver can be performed independently, since the simple VAG COM interface makes it easy to navigate the system. Pop-up tips also help the user to perform a particular operation. In addition, the VAG RUS program has a competent translation into Russian, which will allow a Russian-speaking user to master the device even faster. Computer diagnostics of a car using the VAG KOM program takes no more than 30 minutes, in addition, you can immediately check the results obtained with the factory standards contained in a specially designed database.
The cable from VAG COM allows testing not only German cars. It can be used as a K-Line adapter that works with diagnostic programs for many cars produced both in Europe and Asia. VAG KOM is also suitable for checking cars produced by the CIS countries - such as VAZ, GAZ, IZH and ZAZ. In addition, for other cars, you can order a special adapter, having previously received advice from our specialists.
VAG COM 409.1 (KKL) USB supports protocols:
ISO: 9141-1, 9141-2, 14230, KWP2000;
CAN bus not supported!
In short, I think it's clear, now about the interesting things - a huge number of different programs have been made for this adapter and it fits almost all cars that have the above protocols, and therefore it is ideal for home diagnostics of cars of the 90s and early 2000s, it does not matter whether it is a VAZ or a BMW.
Take VAZ for example - one of the most functional diagnostic programs that works with this adapter is Opendiag, but in addition to diagnostics, you can use it to flip the car or twist the odometer, but this requires completely different programs.
Accordingly, for a part of the cars it will be necessary to use adapters, since many cars of those years for which this adapter is designed were not yet equipped with a 16-pin connector, respectively, it will be necessary to look for a connection method, through the adapter is naturally the most reliable method, but in the same way you can make jumpers between the auto diagnostic connector and the scanner and close the necessary contacts, but this is overkill, in my opinion.
If you have any questions, then write, in short, how much you had enough strength, wrote that the scanner is able to do approximately, I think it's clear, lately I don't get enough sleep at all, because it is difficult to write texts, my thoughts are confused)
and there definitely stands FT232R. I have such an adapter, it costs CH430
in PM threw a program that removes the driver after uninstalling, insert the adapter when it asks about installing drivers, select it manually and specify the path to the folder with the drivers.
what is the PID and VID of your som-port.
Here's what they write about this:
2. We connect the adapter to the USB of the computer. We go to the device manager through
START -> SETINGS -> CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM -> HARDWARE -> DEVICE MANAGER
Find “Unknown Device - Usb Device” -> PROPERTIES -> DETAILS
We look at information about it - we are interested in VID and PID. I had it VID_0865_PID_2000
We take out the adapter from the USB port.
3. Knowing your VID and PID, go to the unpacked folder “CDM 2.06.00 WHQL Certified” with universal drivers.
In it we find two files ftdibus.inf and ftdiport.inf.
You must substitute your own VID and PID values in them instead of XXXX and YYYY, respectively.
In each file, these will be two lines separated by exclamation marks, which need to be corrected:
;. ; In the line below, replace XXXX with the value of your VID, and replace YYYY with the PID value. ; % VID_XXXX & PID_YYYY.DeviceDesc% = FtdiPort232.NT, FTDIBUSCOMPORT & VID_XXXX & PID_YYYY ;. and ;. ; In the line below, replace XXXX with the value of your VID, and replace YYYY with the PID value. ; USBVID_XXXX & PID_YYYY.DeviceDesc = "USB Serial Converter" ;.
4. Now we connect the adapter back to the USB port and set the path to the drivers in our folder or reinstall our drivers from the device manager.
After that, the adapter should be found in windows
Good day! I want to make a tachometer using the Chinese optical module FC-33. I plan to measure the speed as follows: MK (ATmega8) on the positive edge measures the pulse period, and then calculates the frequency by the period. The interrupt at which the MC begins to measure is set to a positive edge! The program on the MK is correct, tk. when connected instead of an optical module, a signal generator - the display of the pulse frequency is correct. Now to the problem: when the optical module is connected, the pulses are incorrectly read, later I discovered that the MC interrupt (which is set to a positive edge) is performed both when the optocoupler slit is closed and when it is opened, and in general it seems that some kind of bounce occurs. Below are the appearance of the module and its diagram.
When the output signal of the optical module was connected to the oscilloscope, there was no bounce. but when connecting the logic analyzer to the output of the module, the following picture was obtained: on it you can see how three times he blocked the slot of the optical module with his finger. And when examining the fronts, it was revealed: see the pictures below. Front front:
I suppose that this is where the problems arise. Tell me what it is and how to fix it.
Greetings! There is a question, but I myself cannot understand what is the matter. There are devices with FT232RL that work fine on my home PC, on laptops, tested on several more PCs, etc. Sometimes new PCs are assembled for these devices and in 100% of cases on new PCs with devices there are problems with identification. Windows displays the message “device is not recognized”, in the device manager it is seen as “uncknown device”.Moreover, if you reconnect several times, then you can achieve the fact that Windows will still see and pick up the virtual port. And so every time on a new PC, on different motherboards, on different 7k and 10k. There were motherboards from three different manufacturers, intel prots of different lines,. sockets and 1150 and 1151, respectively, and chipsets are different. If connected via a passive USB hub, the device starts to be detected in 100% of cases.
Maybe someone has already encountered this?

Hello to all. There is a device called a bill acceptor (cashcode mfl600, powerinterface1710 for anyone interested), 12V power, connecting to a computer via a com-port but through a ttl-rs232 converter, I use either max232 or its analogue st232. Solder and connect as the datasheet writes (but power everything from a 12V computer) - everything works, but the microcircuits often get hot and fail, if the microcircuit is powered through 78L05 (condenders: ceramics, at the input 0.33mkf, at the output 0.1), nifiga does not work , the computer does not see the bill acceptor. The same trouble with another device - I soldered the cable for configuring HBO (Stag200) with the same converter on st232. The HBO connector for connecting to a computer has 4 pins - + 12V, -12V and Rx Tx. Mikruha from 12V heats up and dies, when turned on through the stabilizer, the computer does not see anything. On another machine, there is another HBO, with a connector for a cable, only not 12 but + -5V and Rx Tx, everything works smoothly there, st232 and 5 conders 0.1mkf ceramics. Help, tell me what I missed in the circuits for devices operating at 12V?
Good day to all!
The second hour I sit in search and zero sense, I decided to take a chance and create a topic
In general, I purchased a KKL 409.1 cable, installed it on a laptop with Windows XP Professional SP2 at work, installed the drivers from the disk that came with the kit, downloaded the program VAG-COM 311.2 RUS_2006, registered it using the keygen, everything was ok, I counted the errors, then erased and all.
And today I installed the same program on my laptop with Windows XP and installed the same drivers that came with the kit, but the vag-com did not seem to see the lace. In the options, where you select the COM port and press TEST, the first error came out that the adapter was not found and several suggestions, and now an error appears as in the screenshot. I tried on an ordinary stationary computer with Windows 7 just to try to pass the test, connected it to USB, put firewood, put the same program and in the end the error is the same.
Moreover, when I connect the lace to the machine on the cable, the green LED is on and the computer is regularly putting firewood.
Guys tell me plzz what could be the problem? Maybe start by reinstalling Windows?
How easy it is to diagnose dachtichki (DMRV, IAC, DPDZ and others), to throw off engine (injector) errors and also to identify the causes of increased consumption, you will learn in this article. All we need is a special autoscanner for VAZ (VAG adapter).
This scanner is suitable for almost all VAZs (2105, 2106, 2107, 2108, 2109, 2110, 2112, 2113, 2114, 2115, Priora, Kalina, Niva 4 by 4, Chevrolet Niva)
Diagnostic adapter VAZ
For diagnostics, you need to install the required program.
Here is a list of the programs that come with the adapter:
All cars have a connector. Depending on the car model, it can be located under the steering column, in the engine compartment, in the area of the passenger's or driver's feet, in the glove compartment.
If your car has any other connector, then you can choose an adapter to connect the adapter to your connector on the website
Plug the VAG Universal Adapter into the vehicle socket and follow the further instructions.
Run the program and click the Connect button. The program will automatically select the communication protocol and connect to your car.
Example on the programOpenDiag(all Russian cars)
You need to install the program by running OpenDiagFree1.4_setup.exe
After installation, launch the program.
We see such a window. We choose K-Line (since the VAG adapter is of this type)
We got into the program itself - we press Block selection
We select the brand of your car and the type of ECU installed on your car. This can be found on the ECU unit itself
As soon as the block is selected, press the Definition of a complete setThat's all! now all information about your car on your laptop screen
... For a more detailed analysis of the program, read the Diagnostic instructions
If you want to diagnose all foreign cars since 1996. then you need our ELMadapter... We provide it bundled with all software
The cost of this adapter is 990 rubles. Read more atwebsite

Adapter KKL VAG COM 409.1 on the FTDI chip.
How does this abbreviation stand for?
“KKL” - data exchange with the machine is carried out via the diagnostic bus. Our cable uses the K-line bus (ISO9141-1, ISO9141-2, ISO14230), with 2 pcs. And very old cars are diagnosed on the L line.
"VAG COM" program for car diagnostics - is an analogue of the dealer program VAS 5052.
"FTDI" - a microcircuit for pairing an adapter with a PC via USB.
Diagnostic adapters based on this chip are considered the most stable. To determine the chip on which the adapter is assembled, you need to disassemble it and read the marking of the microcircuits.
Installing VAG Com version 409.1
Installation instructions for version 301.2 Rus are here.
Release409.1us differs from Release409.1s in the ability to connect directly from USB. Our adapter works by converting USB COM to us exactly which program to use.
1. We connect the adapter to the PC. Installing the drivers. In the device manager, check the com port on which the USB Serial Port device is installed.
2. Com port must be from the first to the fourth, if this is not the case, change the port manually. (pr. kn. mouse / Properties / tab - Port parameters / Advanced. Set the com port we need.)
3. Install and run the VAG-COM Release 409-1 program
5. Select our com port. AND Attention connect the adapter to the car, turn on the ignition. Click the Test button.
So everything is OK. You can use the program. Be sure to click Save. All tabs are now active.
Possible mistakes:
The cable is not connected to the PC, the drivers are not installed, the com port is incorrectly selected.
