The next malfunction is damage to the stem, oil seals, valves inside the rack. There is a selection of spare parts on the market for the repair of collapsible shock absorbers. In addition, an experienced motorist never throws away old spare parts, but tries to repair them. In addition, workable parts can always be extracted from them.
Tip: The entire process of disassembling the shock absorber should be photographed. This will avoid assembly problems.

If you have basic information about how your shock absorbers work, you can save money on replacing them. Most of the rack models are repairable and the parts are either reasonably priced or made in-house.
You have already renovated the salon of your iron horse by ordering services here. Now the moment comes when you need to think about replacing the rear pillars of the VAZ 2110. The suspension becomes unusable, it needs to be serviced. First of all, this is the replacement of shock absorbers. If you have at least a little skills in car repair, then you can cope with the work without difficulty.
Try to do all the work, take into account even the smallest nuances. The further operation of the car depends on how professional the repair is. So, you need to start with the most basic - what are racks and what are they for, and also let's look at their design.
The rear pillar of the VAZ 2110 car does not differ in design from those that are installed on most of the front-wheel drive cars of this manufacturer. Repairs, of course, are carried out in a similar way. As with all other cars, dozens of struts serve to dampen suspension vibrations when driving on uneven roads, or when cornering at high speed.
As you can imagine, the quality of the roads is not always good. The suspension of cars suffers greatly because of this. If the suspension struts fail, the smoothing of vibrations while driving will not occur. Consequently, the reliability of the machine is greatly reduced. Not only do the suspension elements suffer, but a very large load is transferred to the car body.
All welds are subject to pressure. Of course, sooner or later, but this can lead to the fact that some elements of the body will simply disappear. For example, the lock on the trunk may even collapse. Or, cracks may appear on the plastic elements of the interior, as well as on the glass.
With careful operation of the VAZ 2110 car, with the rear and front suspension in good condition, you will feel the highest comfort while driving. The safety level of the car is also getting higher. The rear struts of the VAZ 2110 alone are enough to balance the degree of wear of each element of the rear suspension. Note that the vertical movement of the vehicle body is minimal.
The vehicle's suspension life becomes longer. Let's take a look at the simplest example. When the wheel is detached from the road, it leaves the braking process. As you can imagine, the braking efficiency with three wheels will be lower than with four. Hence the low security. Thanks to the use of racks, provided that they are in working order, the wheel does not come off the surface.
In any car, if you load the rear axle, the ground clearance decreases. Of course, the wheels touch the body or the protection. Therefore, if you often carry large loads or passengers, it is advisable to change the vehicle's clearance. For this, special spacers are used. They are installed on the support of the rear pillar of the VAZ 2110. But the following changes will occur:
The position of the brake pressure regulator changes.
The camber angle changes on the front wheels.
It is necessary to adjust the headlights as the edge of the light beam gets closer to the vehicle.
If you decide to install spacers on your VAZ 2110 car, then after that you need to adjust the luminous flux, as well as change the location of the pressure regulator in the brake system. All this can be done in a garage at home. Entrust the camber-convergence of the front wheels to be adjusted by professionals at a service station.
If suddenly the rear pillars of the VAZ 2110 began to knock, it is necessary to establish the root cause of this phenomenon. As a rule, knocking occurs when the car drives very often on uneven roads. The result is a malfunction of the shock absorbers, the need for their repair, or a complete replacement. A rarer cause of knocking is excessive wear on the rubber-metal suspension arm bushings.
It is also worth considering that even a steel spring is gradually compressed and its elasticity becomes insufficient. In the event that there is a subsidence of the springs, only installing a new one will help you. If you recently carried out a major overhaul of the rear suspension, and suddenly there was an annoying knock, you need to carefully check the shock absorber mountings. It is possible that a bolt or nut was missing. It is quite simple to fix such a breakdown - you need to tighten the threaded connection.
The most common reason for the appearance of a knock in the rear suspension of a VAZ 2110 car is constant overloads.Make sure that the conditions in which the operation of your car is carried out in normal modes. To diagnose the rear suspension arms, you will need to relieve the load on the rear axle of the vehicle. Install it on a viewing hole or overpass, preferably evenly.
Move the car vertically. If at the same time extraneous sounds are heard, we can say that there is a malfunction in the suspension. In the event that the rear pillar knocks on the VAZ 2110, this is not a symptom that it is completely out of order. The first step is to carefully diagnose the fastening elements.
In fact, the design of the rear pillar of a VAZ 2110 car, like, indeed, any other front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive car, consists of two elements. All modern vehicles use a telescopic bi-directional shock absorber. The second element, which is equally important, is the steel spring mounted on the top of the shock absorber strut.
On the VAZ 2110, the struts are an element that also holds the entire suspension on the body. These are load-bearing elements. Thanks to the levers, the vehicle's suspension is normalized. To remove the rear pillars of the VAZ 2110, you will need to remove the backrest in the rear seat to gain access to the cups that are in the rear arches. Please note that the shock absorbers are attached at two points - the upper one is located in the cup, and the lower one is on the rear beam.
In order to unscrew the top nut, you need to get a special key. But if this is not the case, then you will have to get rid of it, since it is necessary to keep the shock absorber rod from turning with a key on "6". The nut must be unscrewed with a key on "17". After carrying out these manipulations, you need to put a puller on the spring. Only then can you unscrew all the nuts - on the upper and lower mountings.
Removing the rack is straightforward. During repairs, be sure to replace the rubber parts of the structure, in particular, bumpers and anthers. The installation of the rear pillar of the VAZ 2110 is carried out in the reverse order, the only condition for normal work is the maximum compression of the spring by the puller. The suspension strut rod must be fully extended.
The first step is to get the nut in the upper part. After that, the lower part of the shock absorber is fixed. You can also give some advice on repairing the suspension of a VAZ 2110 car. The rear struts, be they Kayaba or stock, are most easily removed if all threaded connections have been processed with penetrating lubricant in a timely manner. If even the penetrating lubricant does not help, then you will have to expose the threads to heating, which must be done extremely carefully.
Detailed step-by-step instructions with photo support for the repair and replacement of the telescopic rack on a VAZ 2110 car.
As a rule, when repairing a shock absorber strut, it is not always possible to get the desired result. Therefore, if necessary, it is recommended to change the shock absorber strut to a new one.
1. First of all, read how to remove a telescopic rack from a VAZ 2110 car.
2. Clamp the stand in a vice, and then compress the spring using special ties. Then, using the tool, unscrew the upper nut of the strut support and the shock absorber rod, while the latter must be kept from turning.
3. Dismantle the upper support on the car pillar.
4. Remove the upper spring cup.
5. Remove the telescopic strut spring itself.
7. If the strut housing, the spring cup located at the bottom, as well as the swing arm and the bracket have been deformed and destroyed, cracked, then this condition indicates the need to replace the shock absorber strut. It is forbidden to make any welding on it, as a result of which its performance will be disrupted.
eight.Further, the shock absorber strut must be fixed in a vertical position and a couple of times to raise and lower the shock absorber rod until it stops. This is done in order to understand if there are any jams, knocks and failures in the course of his movement. If any are found, the telescopic rack requires replacement and cannot be repaired. Reasons for replacement may also be a broken thread in the upper part of the stem or fluid leakage (only slight sweating is permissible).
In order to sort out the shock absorber strut, it is best to turn to the services of a specialized workshop, since a special tool and, importantly, skill are required to repair it.
9. In addition to conventional hydraulic shock absorbers, there are also shock absorbers in the so-called cartridge (one-piece non-separable body). If there is such a mechanism in a car, then for replacement it is necessary to knock down the support of the compression buffer, using a special wrench, unscrew the nut of the strut housing, remove the old cartridge and install a new one. If the cartridge needs to be installed instead of a simple hydraulic shock absorber, then the rod with the working cylinder must be released from the body to drain the fluid. Then the body should be rinsed inside and, following the manufacturer's instructions, install a new cartridge.
10. You also need to pay attention to the condition of the protective casing and the compression stroke buffer. If the latter is damaged, it must be changed. If the rubber has peeled off from the metal reinforcement on the protective casing, and also if the casing has cracks, torn sections, does not have the necessary elasticity, then it is time to replace it.
11. The bearing requires replacement if there is axial movement in the support housing; it is noticed that grease is leaking from under the protective rings; the bearing is seized during turning; and also due to corrosion. It may be necessary to replace the upper support housing if cracks appear on it. Or you can replace the complete support. The stud threads can also be worn out and needless to be replaced.
12. Deformation of the spring coils, cracks on it also signal the need to change the part. To check the spring draft, you need to press it three times so that the coils touch. Then load the spring with a load of 3187 N (325 kgf). Under this pressure, the spring must have a length of at least 201 mm (182 mm - for export cars).
The process of compression of the spring is carried out along its axis: it is required that the supporting surfaces are in accordance with the surfaces of the support cups, which are located on the telescopic rack. Springs with yellow (in the export version - white) marking (class A) may have a length of less than 207 mm (188 - subject to export), then you should replace it with a spring where the marking is green (blue - export cars) (class B) ... It is best to change both springs in the front suspension (they must belong to the same group). Also replace the broken upper spring cup.
13. Replace the telescopic strut mounting bolts with worn threads.
14. Now you need to start assembling the telescopic rack from the end, starting from the last process (in reverse order). The protective cover must be slid over the annular groove that is located on the compression travel buffer.
15. The installed spring must be positioned so that its end is pressed against the protrusion of the lower cup until it stops. In the same way, you need to install the upper cup on the spring.
16. Only when your vehicle is already on the ground, tighten the shock absorber rod nut completely.
The first thing to do is to unscrew the CV joint nut and unscrew the wheel bolts to remove it.
Remove the lower ball joint bolts.
Bolt securing the cylinder to the guide pins and remove the caliper.
Remove the steering tip with a puller.
Pull the CV joint out of the steering knuckle, unscrew the nuts securing the rotary support to the cup with a 13 key and remove.
Tighten the spring with ties and then, using a special key, unscrew the nut securing the support to the rack rod.
Shown here is the repair of the upper support. At the bearing with a thin screwdriver, open the protective ring and fill the lithol, add a strip of rubber cut from the old chamber to the rubber element, seal the inside with electrical tape.
We knock down the support of the compression buffer with a hammer, unscrew the reservoir nut with a special key (a sledgehammer may be useful).
We take out the cartridge, disassemble ..
The rim is jammed on the compression valve discs. This disc can be turned over.
... and swap this one with the second one, or install a new compression valve.
The necessary repair tool, seal repair kit and shock absorber fluid.
You need to buy this kit in advance for high-quality pumping.
Pour 320 grams of shock absorber fluid into the front struts. The assembly is carried out in absolute cleanliness. Install in reverse order.
Collapsible two-tube shock absorbers are installed on VAZ 2110-12 cars, therefore, if necessary, they are disassembled and repaired. To do this, you must first dismantle it from the car.

Almost every motorist can repair shock absorber struts, if he is not afraid of dirty work under the car. At the same time, you will be able to save a good amount of money. After all, as soon as dull bumps begin to appear in the suspension of the car when driving through pits and potholes, then it’s time to come to grips with repairing shock absorbers.
Each automaker uses its own design developments to damp vibrations when the vehicle is moving. But shock absorbers are present in almost all modern passenger cars.
The lifespan of a shock absorber is determined by the driving style of the vehicle and the quality of the roads. For example, many 10-year-old cars from Europe with a mileage of more than 200 thousand km come to us on "native" shock absorbers. And in our road conditions, a rare suspension part survives up to 100 thousand kilometers.
At the end of this article, you will find a visual video tutorial on repairing the shock absorber strut of a VAZ 2110 car.
Below we will talk about what are the main malfunctions of shock absorbers, and how you can fix them with your own hands, if you have certain skills, tools and the desire to do this.
The main malfunctions of shock absorber struts are:
Free movement of the rod in the cylinder,
The presence of knocking when compressing or stretching,
Oil drips.
Finding all these problems is quite simple, even without removing the shock absorbers from the car.
To determine the performance of the shock absorbers, it is necessary to press hard several times with the whole body weight on the wing or bumper of the car directly above each shock absorber in turn. If, after the car stops rocking, further vertical vibrations occur, then the shock absorber is faulty. Usually, a working node stops swinging immediately after the impact on it stops.
In a similar way, knocks in the shock absorber strut are detected. To do this, rest your hand with the palm of your hand at the top attachment point of the rack and swing it up and down with sharp rhythmic presses. Impacts will be clearly felt upon contact.
To find leaks in the shock absorbers, it is enough to look between the wheel and the arch of the car. Turning the wheel to one side will help to improve visibility. It is even more convenient for these purposes to use a viewing pit, overpass or lift.
For more information on methods for checking the health of car shock absorbers, read our article on how to check shock absorbers on a car.
Repair of shock absorber struts begins with their dismantling. Removing the shock absorbers is usually not a problem. Unless the fasteners force the motorist to swear loudly and resort to drastic measures ("grinder" or gas "cutter").
But more often than not, it is enough to clean the nuts and bolts from sand and dirt, and then treat them with WD-40 fluid. After 20-30 minutes, you can start dismantling.
Here are a few things to consider when removing shock absorbers for later repair or replacement:
Often, the part of the car where the shock absorber is removed has to be hung with a jack. It is imperative to install stops under the sill or bottom so that the car does not accidentally move during repairs.
For better access to the lower mountings of the shock absorber, the corresponding wheel must be removed.
The upper attachment points of the struts in most cars are usually located under the hood and in the trunk.
In front-wheel drive vehicles, removing the strut requires more work. The complexity of the work depends on the type of shock absorber.
Collapsible shock absorber structures are distinguished by more complex rack dismantling. To remove such a unit, you will have to unscrew the hub nut and remove the rack together with the hub.
Non-collapsible shock absorbers have a simpler strut design. At the lowest point, the shock absorber is inserted into the cup, where it is attached with one or two bolts.
The top attachment for both types of struts is usually located under the hood (front shock absorbers) and in the trunk (rear). Here you will need to tighten only two nuts.
The shock absorber struts in front-wheel drive vehicles are usually removed with the springs.
To determine the cause of a front wheel drive vehicle's shock absorber strut malfunction, it will most likely have to be completely disassembled. For details on disassembling, assembling and repairing a shock absorber, see the video tutorial at the end of this article.
Ties will be an indispensable tool for disassembling the shock absorber. This spring compressor is a heavy duty stud with a left-hand thread at one end and a right-hand thread at the other. There is a turnkey hexagon at the end of the stud. Grips (with left and right threads, respectively) are screwed onto the ends of the hairpin, which will reliably cling to the coils of the shock absorber spring when it is compressed.
Two such clamping devices are required to compress the spring. They are installed on opposite sides of the spring. Pulling is done by alternating rotation of the pins.
When the spring is compressed enough that it becomes free to "walk" in the rack, you can unscrew the top nut, remove the support bearing with a rubber bumper, and carefully remove the spring.
After careful inspection, it may turn out that the cause of the knock lies in a worn rubber bump stop. A tight rotation with a creak is observed when the support bearing fails.
The collapsible shock absorber is unscrewed from the body using a special key. Some motorists do this job successfully with a hammer and a suitable steel bar.
After replacing defective parts, the shock absorber strut should be reassembled in reverse order.
When the top nut is securely tightened, the spring must be slowly released to a working condition. It is important that the first turns fall into their slots, which prevent it from shifting.
After that, it remains to install the shock absorber strut in place, screw the wheel and lower the car.
Damper struts should be repaired without haste and in compliance with safety regulations. Especially carefully and carefully it is necessary to compress and unclench the springs. Then the repair will take place without damage to the car and human injury. And the car after the repair of the shock absorber struts will go smoothly and quietly.

Dismantled front pillar VAZ2110
Damping struts of a car are the most important component of its suspension.The main purpose of the struts is to damp vibrations of the car body (body) and ensure good adhesion of its wheels to the road surface. Like almost any part of a car, shock absorbers have a certain service life, which is prescribed by the manufacturer of this car, or by the firm or company that produces them. On average, the service life of the racks is from 30 to 40 thousand km.
First of all, any car enthusiast who knows enough the peculiarities of operating his car, in case of failure of any of the front struts, will immediately feel it. This can manifest itself in the following:
steering wheel beating;
increased vibration of the body on the "comb" on the side; damaged rack;
car leaving a straight trajectory;
abnormal skid when entering corners;
increased braking distance;
the appearance of knocks in the rack, which indicates abnormal operation of the valve group of the shock absorber;
the presence of smudges, i.e. oil leakage (see VAZ 2110 oil change - from theory to practice).
It becomes clear that it is necessary to look for and eliminate the cause of the malfunction of the suspension. Further operation of the car with clear signs of such deviations in the suspension operation is highly undesirable.
What this can lead to:
Firstly, for 1.5-2 thousand km of run, you can simply "break" the support bearings of the front struts;
Secondly, coupled with mediocre balancing of the front wheels, there is an increased uneven tire wear, sometimes even "bumps", because the wheel "jumps" on the road while the car is moving; The hub bearings are broken, but their price and replacement work today is a decent amount;
Thirdly, an increase in the braking distance is directly related to the safety of car operation, when a few meters or fractions of a second can solve the issue of repairing the body or its parts not in favor of the car owner;
Fourthly, the service life of the brake pads is reduced, their uneven wear is going on, again - a safety issue, and as a result - unforeseen costs for their forced replacement (see Replacing the VAZ 2110 pads - we install it ourselves).
Attention: "dryness" of the strut will not yet be a sign of its normal operation, as in the example above - damage to the shock absorber valves, but in this case, the strut, as a rule, will be dry
You should constantly listen to the suspension operation. If you are sure that the suspension parts are in good condition, but knocks are present, then we can say with sufficient confidence that the rack is faulty. It would be nice to conduct a “subjective” test at least once a week on the condition of the front struts of the VAZ 2110: on the same section of a well-known deserted road, enter a turn at the same speed and closely monitor the behavior of the car. As soon as the car starts to skid at a certain constant speed (which was clearly not the case before), then we can assume that the front struts urgently need diagnostics.
The average price for replacing the front pillars of a VAZ 2110 in a specialized car service is approximately from 1200 to 1500 rubles apiece, in total - within 3000 rubles. "Private" car mechanics charge a little less: from 800 to 1000 rubles, but it is still quite tangible for the family budget. In principle, if you prepare all the necessary keys in advance and involve one assistant, even if he is not particularly versed in the nuances of this process, you can replace the front struts of the VAZ 2110 yourself, i.e. do it yourself.
Not knowing how, you can "dismantle" the racks and so
What will be needed for this:
Firstly, the usual standard set of keys from M10 to M27, which should always be in the car of a normal motorist;
Secondly, it is necessary to have a sufficiently flat platform so that the jacked up in front of the car does not fall anywhere, even when fixed with the help of removed wheels with spacer wooden beams or a set of boards placed, as usual, under the body,20-30mm thick, and slightly longer than the full diameter of the wheel.
The rest of the steps for removing and replacing the front struts of the VAZ 2110 are proposed to be performed according to a small and very simple instruction. In addition to the instructions, for clarity in the sequence of actions, several small photos are attached.
The car is parked on a level surface, secured with wheel chocks, the handbrake is clamped. Then we jack up the car and remove the desired wheel. For safety reasons, we put the removed wheel with bars under the car body and slightly loosen the jack so that the car sits tightly on the bars. We remove the front pillar in the sequence as shown in the photo below:
To slightly loosen the M19 nut of the shock absorber rod, remove the cup cap. Then we loosen the three upper M14 nuts of the rack fasteners
Preparing for dismantling, loosening the nuts securing the rack to the glass
The shock absorber rod at the top end can be slotted or square. We hold the stem either with a screwdriver, or with a key and slightly unscrew ("undermine") the nut of its fastening
Loosening the shock absorber rod nut
Preparing the pivot arm for uncoupling
Unpinning the steering tip hinge nut
Pressing out the steering tip hinge
With a special bronze drift we knock out the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle, and then remove it from the cheeks of the strut down
Uncoupling the steering knuckle strut
Slightly loosened even before disassembly, three nuts securing the shock absorber to the glass, we now give it back completely and bring the rack out through the wheel arch as shown in the photo at the beginning of the article

We clamp the removed stand in a garage yew with copper jaws, install a puller for screed and remove the springs of the stand. Pull the springs evenly until they no longer press on the support cups. We give back the stem nut completely and, in turn, disassemble and take out all the parts of the rack - support, cup, travel buffer, boot. We replace the damaged shock absorber with a new one, and assemble the rack and install it on the car in exactly the reverse order.
Important: after replacing the struts, it is necessary to do the wheel alignment at the computer stand of the car service.
Dismantling the A-pillar springs with a special puller
But the service life of these elements is limited. Therefore, replacing the front struts at the VAZ 2110 is a completely natural and necessary procedure over time.
The average service life of the racks installed on the "top ten" is 30-40 thousand kilometers. The indicator depends on the operating conditions of the car and the manufacturing plant of the element itself.
It is not necessary to go to the service station, since the replacement can be done by hand.

There are several signs according to which a malfunction can be determined:
The body vibrates heavily on the comb on the side of the damaged shock absorber;
There is a beating in the steering wheel;
The braking distance becomes longer;
When cornering, the car skids;
Traces of oil leaks;
When driving in a straight line, the car is carried away;
There are knocks and extraneous noises in the rack.
Device diagram
If you do not repair the front struts in time at the service station or with your own hands, this can lead to sad consequences:
The thrust bearings will collapse;
Tires will wear unevenly, jump, form bumps on the rubber surface;
The wheel bearings will fail;
The braking distance will become longer, which is dangerous on any section of the road;
Brake pads will malfunction and their service life will be significantly reduced.
There are two main ways to check items for faults. One professional, the second handicraft, but also quite effective.
Special shaker. A car is driven onto it, and the computer calculates the effectiveness of the shock absorbers. It should be noted that newer racks may perform around 75%, but this is quite normal. If the percentage is less than 50, then it's time to change the part.
Manual rocking.You need to grab the front of the car, its fender, and start rocking. Try to achieve the maximum amplitude that your body weight allows. If anything, ask a friend to help. The bottom line is to abruptly remove your hands after swinging and look at the car. If she immediately returned to her original position and does not hesitate any more, then everything is fine. If you find even a slight fluctuation, you can consider that it is advisable to replace the racks in the near future.
It is impossible to say unequivocally which front stands are best to choose for the VAZ 2110. Some choose factory ones because they are not rigid enough for them, others prefer analogs for their softer and more comfortable behavior.
Someone even wants to install a sports version of the racks on their top ten, since they are the most rigid, and the springs are as thick as possible.
Sports
The choice is between oil and gas (gas-oil in fact). The former are more affordable from a financial point of view, but they do not have such a wide temperature range, which is why the shock absorbers become stiffer in winter.
Gas counterparts have a more complex design, high price, but an excellent indicator of "tenacity".
Among the manufacturers, in addition to the CC20, the following manufacturing companies can be distinguished:
They all have approximately the same devices, so there should be no problems with the selection of suitable parts.
VIDEO
Having decided on the choice of racks, collect a set of tools that will come in handy during their replacement:
Slotted screwdrivers;
Key for holding the shock absorber rod;
Open-end and spanner wrenches in sizes 6-22;
Heads 12-22;
Puller of ball pins of the ends of the steering rods;
A device for compressing springs on the front struts;
Almighty WD40 Thinner.
We begin directly the replacement process.
Remove the nut that secures the upper shock mounts to the body cup (in the engine compartment).
Release the top supports.
Remove the outer ends of the tie rods. This is where your special puller comes in handy.
Remove the bolts that secure the lower part of the strut from the steering knuckle.
Remove the stand.
Disassemble and reassemble it.
Follow the reassembly process.
Disassembly and assembly should be discussed in more detail:
Begin by removing the upper stem nut. This can only be done with a specialized key for 6;
Armed with another device, already to hold the strut spring, release the rod of your shock absorber;
Next, the upper support is released, which is held by three nuts on top of the body cup;
Be sure to disconnect the outer tie rod end from your strut before starting work on the lower leg;
It is not uncommon for a ball finger to be stuck, therefore, be sure to use a remover or a tool for all occasions - WD40;
After freeing the stand, remove it. Replace with a new one and follow the reassembly process. Be careful with the boot of the front pillar of your VAZ 2110. Try not to damage the component. If it is in a deplorable state, it is recommended to replace it immediately;
There should also be no problems with the strut of the front struts of the VAZ 2110;
Be sure to carry out the camber adjustment after you have made certain adjustments to the suspension design.
It is noteworthy that replacing the rear struts with wheel alignment does not have any effect, and when changing the front shock absorbers, significant changes can occur.

It's no secret that the engine is the main unit of the entire car. Your ability to drive a car, consume the optimal amount of fuel and more depends on its performance. But overheating is a very common situation in which many make serious mistakes.
The exhaust manifold is a component of the exhaust system that carries out the process of diverting exhaust gases from the cylinders of the power unit to the exhaust pipe.
Various problems with the suspension are the most common reason for contacting a service for diagnostics and repairs. Alas, Russian roads in some parts of our Motherland are more like a tank training ground, or something that remains of the road in the usual sense of the word. In any case, you have to drive on any roads, hence a number of suspension problems that any car owner faces.
In the article, we will analyze in detail the removal and replacement of the front shock absorber on the VAZ 2110, 2111, 2112 with our own hands. The instructions include a step-by-step guide to repair this suspension assembly.
Usually, the racks are changed after a mileage of 50-60 thousand km, but from experience we can say that these figures may not correspond to the realities in which the car is operated. It's one thing if the owner constantly drives on high-quality asphalt to and from work. And it is quite another matter when the car is used on different roads, most of which cannot be called roads. In the latter case, the suspension elements, including the front shock absorber strut VAZ 2110, 2111, 2112, become unusable at 30 thousand kilometers and earlier. Therefore, everything is individual. Do diagnostics periodically when you find deterioration in handling and overall suspension performance.
In addition, you need to decide on the type of shock absorbers:
Gas is an expensive option. The car becomes very rigid and, as a result, maneuverable, with sharp steering. They are usually used on sports, tuned cars.
Oil-based ones are also not cheap. The opposite of the previous ones. Soft, the car feels like it is even too roll. The irregularities of the Russian road are almost completely hidden.
Ordinary shock absorbers. We will talk about this unpretentious and most affordable type of shock absorber in the article.
You will need: wrenches 13 ", 19", a wrench to hold the stem.
So, the instructions for replacing the front shock absorber strut VAZ 2110, 2111, 2112.
Using a wrench to hold the stem
We loosen the nut with the keys.
We twist the data 3 nuts
Next, we remove the hub, the tie rod with the tips, and finally the shock absorber strut.
Mark the position of the adjusting bolt
Next, unscrew the top and bottom nuts.
We release the suspension strut by moving our fist aside.
We unscrew the remaining upper bolts and remove the rack completely
We begin to collect screeds for springs

I hope you have identified which of these parts you need to replace and you have the skills to tighten (unscrew the nuts). In this article, we will not consider the replacement of each individual part, but simply take a step-by-step look at the process of disassembling the front pillar of the VAZ 2110.

To replace a separate cartridge, before buying it, make sure that you have a collapsible stand installed on your car. This can be determined without removing the stand, there will be a small bulge at the top of the stand, which can be easily felt with your hands. If the top of your rack is flat, then the rack is non-separable and there is no point in buying a cartridge. You need to replace the rack together with the body, for example SAAZ.
So let's get started. First, choose a site.
Some manufacturers recommend filling the gap between the rack housing and the cartridge with oil, so check the installation instructions for that particular cartridge. But to lubricate the stem of the rack with silicone, it is recommended on all cartridges and racks. This will extend the life of the rack.
Having replaced all the necessary parts, we assemble in the reverse order to disassembly.
