In detail: do-it-yourself Samsung TV repair at the bottom of the screen is a dark bar from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
Samsung has long been one of the most popular brands sold and serviced in Russia.
The choice of buyers is justified by the favorable price-quality ratio of the equipment, and the popularity among repairmen is due to many factors that determine the simplicity and ease of repair and maintenance.
Despite the variety of models, Samsung TVs for technicians and service engineers remain uncomplicated and predictable in repair, and the manufacturer's timely technical support with components, modules, documentation and software greatly facilitates and simplifies diagnostics and repairs.
Since the beginning of the nineties of the last century, the craftsmen have accumulated rich experience in repairing Samsung TVs, which was discussed and preserved on the Internet in numerous conferences and blogs of repairmen.
Typical defects of some models sometimes caused controversy and deserve special attention in considering the causes of malfunctions and methods of their elimination.
In this series of articles, it is planned to consider the most common malfunctions of Samsung CRT TVs from 2000 and the most popular LCD TV models in the practice of repairing.
There is no need to consider the problem of electrolytic capacitors in the rectifier filters of power supply modules, since this is a massive trend characteristic of the first generation of LCD TVs. It should be noted that in LED TVs, the problem with electrolytic capacitors is less common. Perhaps this is due to the lower consumption of LED backlight power converters.

Operation of some first generation Samsung LCD TVs with defective power filter capacitors may cause software failure. At first, the settings for the channels may disappear, sometimes specific distortions appear in the “Cinema” mode, the screen backlight adjustment may not work correctly.
Often there is a complete failure in the software and the TV is no longer included in the operating mode.
In such cases, after repairing the power module, it is necessary to replace the contents of the EEPROM memory.
One of the most popular power supplies in repair is described separately in the article Typical faults BN44-00192A. In addition to defects caused by a malfunction of electrolytic capacitors, we note two more typical malfunctions of this module. Ring cracks in the soldering of the terminals of the switch-on transistor from standby mode, as well as breakdown of the sealant with subsequent short circuit and damage to the 2200pF capacitor and breakage of the 0.22 Ohm resistor in the power supply circuit of the key transistors of the converter.
Noise in the image in the form of curved oblique stripes associated with poor filtering of the tuner's power supply is eliminated by replacing the 100uF 16V capacitor on the main board. In this case, there is no need to change the capacitor in the tuner. Sometimes the masters do the opposite, due to insufficient competence, then such a replacement will help for a short while.
Another popular typical malfunction of some Samsung LCD models is the use of the AS-15 gamma correction chip in the T-CON board. AS19. The defect is associated with distortion of color transitions. The image becomes lighter and in places looks like a negative.
The latest LCD models, in particular the SMART-TV, have problems with BGA soldering technology for highly integrated chips.In such cases, malfunctions may occur, usually manifested with warming up, which are caused by a violation of the contact of the chip pins with the corresponding pads on the board.
The malfunction of the LCD matrices is perhaps a separate topic for discussion, but it makes sense to briefly consider some of the external manifestations of its defects.
In most cases, these are straight vertical stripes in certain areas of the screen or throughout its entire area. Stripes can be different, both colored and black and white of different thickness.
Sometimes the nature of the stripes changes with external mechanical stress. Freeze-frame images may appear.
Such matrix defects are associated with broken contacts in the connections of the loops, which can sometimes be restored with warming up.
Repair of the matrix in such cases is associated with its disassembly and restoration of contacts in loops or duplication of connections with external conductors - a complicated process, not recommended by manufacturers and may not always be a successful and reliable solution to the problem.
Due to the fact that the price of the matrix is quite high, accounting for more than half of the cost of a TV, in most cases, owners of post-warranty TVs refuse to replace the matrix due to the economic inexpediency of repair.
In many models of LED TVs of the 5 series, panels (matrices) with backlight LEDs of sufficiently low quality are installed, or the current in the LEDs is incorrectly calculated. This currently popular typical defect can manifest itself already in the first year of operation. In this case, there is simply no picture.
In authorized service centers, on the recommendation of the manufacturer, they change the LED rulers and limit the current in the LED drivers so that the TVs work out at least the warranty period. And in post-warranty cases, this problem is solved by the craftsmen in different ways, depending on their qualifications and contractual conditions with the owner.
Some explanations and recommendations can be found in the article in our article Samsung, LG LED backlight repair.
Of the most common malfunctions of Samsung CRT TVs, there are several associated with the low reliability of CRTs and their deflecting systems (OS).
The consequence of shorting the filament with the cathode of the kinescope (usually green) is eliminated by isolating the filament from the mass and organizing its separate power supply (2-3 turns per TDKS core). In this case, do not forget to use the standard filament current calibration resistor.
In kinescopes with a flat screen, diagonals of 20 inches or more, a short circuit between the accelerating electrode and the modulator (G2 and G1) often occurs, which is accompanied by the absence of an image.
Fortunately, such short circuits, in most cases, can be easily eliminated by the usual old-fashioned methods popular among repairmen.
It is more difficult with the closure in the lowercase deflecting coils of the CRT. In this case, the line transistor short-circuits, usually immediately upon switching on. In some cases, you can see smoke from under the throat of the OS, feel the characteristic smell, the transistor (HOT) overheats at this time.
A lot of trouble in many models of Samsung CRT-TVs of different diagonals is delivered by the elements of the IOC capacitive divider of the horizontal sync pulse formation circuit. In such cases, the limiting resistor often burns out to charcoal, sometimes damaging the board section along with the conductive tracks.
In cases with “floating” defects, when it is not possible to detect poor contact in the soldering of the element leads, it is necessary to remember the specificity of the metallization of the holes in the power circuits of the horizontal scan, which is characteristic of Samsung CRT TVs.
The contact of the metal sleeve with the copper pad of the board is often painted over, sometimes it is faster to detect sparking in this place than to see an annular crack with a magnifying glass.
Most often, such a breakdown of contact occurs at the place of soldering of the contact pad with metallization of the collector connection of the line transistor.
Typical malfunctions of some common models made on standard chassis can be considered separately.

The TV screen shows halfway - this is one of the popular problems that customers turn to us. At the same time, many users believe that troubleshooting will be expensive and not profitable, which is why they tend to buy new equipment. But this is absolutely not the case. In most cases, repairs are inexpensive and much cheaper than replacing a TV with an updated model. But it is worth noting the fact that self-repair is impossible and you will need to contact the professional staff of the "Polite Service 5+" service center.
When the screen shows half of the quality, and the second transmits a distorted image, it is important to determine the exact source of the problem. For this, our company performs diagnostics, where all possible malfunctions that may cause a defect are checked. Please note that repairs will be completed as quickly as possible if accurate indications of a malfunction are provided at the time of request. Among them, the following are considered popular:
- Half of the screen is darker than the other;
- The TV shows a striped floor of the screen;
- Half of the screen does not work (it is black or white).
We strongly recommend that you clarify these details when making an application. The most detailed information will allow the master to prepare for the trip as correctly as possible.
- The matrix works in the mode of preset parameters;
- Part of the backlight is out of order. These are both the diodes themselves and the inverter;
- Lost TV settings when performing an update.
If you have problems of this type, you can try to fix them yourself. To do this, turn off and turn on the equipment from the outlet for about 30 minutes. If after switching on nothing has changed, call the professionals of our company. In such a situation, only a specialist will be able to determine the source of the problem and repair it, since in 90% of cases it is necessary to disassemble the case and work with the internal modules. The testing includes the inverter, backlight, power supply, panel, matrix, serviceability and relevance of the firmware.
Please note that software failures are recovered only with the use of licensed software. Do not try to download firmware from third-party sites on the Internet. This can lead to serious damage.
If the TV shows half normal, and on the other hand, the whole image is in stripes, then most likely there are problems with the matrix. In this case, the defect may also lie in other adjacent elements. This is a breakdown of the loop, oxidation or burning of contacts on the circuits. In any individual case, do-it-yourself repair work is impossible. Each type of restoration is complex and expensive. Even the slightest mistake can lead to replacement of the matrix.To prevent this, never try to tamper with the equipment yourself.
It is important to know that the matrix almost never fails due to natural reasons or due to factory defects. The main source of the problem is the human factor. Horizontal and vertical stripes appear for several reasons:
- Mechanical damage;
- Placing the TV in direct sunlight;
- Cleaning the matrix surface with a wet cloth;
- Incorrect installation of the bracket.
If you want to keep the equipment in good order for the longest possible period, always follow the operating rules. To do this, read the instructions and requirements of the manufacturer. Additional advice can be obtained from the master after repair.
Breakage is considered one of the most popular. It occurs more often than those previously listed. And the saddest thing in this situation is that the appearance of a defect is typical for all modern TV devices. For matrices of different technologies, the sources of the problem will differ.
For LCD and LED, the main culprits are:
- Incorrect processor operation. It has been overheated or is out of order. Poor contact with the board;
- The motherboard is not functioning. Tracks or any microcircuits burned out;
- Matrix loop defect;
- Capacitors are swollen and faulty;
- Mechanical damage after transportation, installation;
- Natural wear and tear (found on models from all brands);
- Factory defect of built-in modules.
In the case of plasma models, the number of problems is small:
- Failure in software;
- Damage to the matrix.
In each individual case, it is impossible to fix the problems yourself. In this case, we recommend not even trying to open the case. If the floor of the screen does not work or has defects, the only solution is to turn to professionals.
If half of the screen does not work horizontally or vertically, then there are no independent solutions. As we wrote above, you can only intervene if it darkens on one side. All other signs are eliminated by specialists.
Please note that every fifth call from our service center employees is associated with non-professional intervention. Moreover, in 100% of cases, there are already other damages, and maintenance requires additional costs. If you are interested in inexpensive TV repair, call us right away.

Experts believe that the problem of the appearance of a narrow horizontal strip on the TV screen ranks third in terms of the frequency of its manifestation. Recall that the first two "prize places" are occupied by malfunctions in line scanning systems and TV power supplies.
As soon as you notice that a narrow white stripe has appeared on the TV screen, you can be sure that the vertical scanning system is out of order.
- Failure of the microcircuit of the cascades of the frame scan;
- Problems with the capacitors of the strapping (ensuring the operating modes) of the frame scan microcircuit;
- Malfunctions in the power supply system of the microcircuit of the output stages of the vertical scan;
- Problems with reliable contact of the frame scan elements (ring cracks).
Estimating the width of the horizontal strip that appears on the TV screen (it can be very narrow or reach 3-4 centimeters), you can make a preliminary decision about which particular element or TV unit caused the malfunction.
Step one. As is usually customary when repairing complex electronic equipment, you should start troubleshooting with the simplest and most obvious. In this case, you should carefully examine with a magnifying glass (magnifying glass) the soldering points of the personnel microcircuit and its strapping elements for the presence of ring cracks.
It seems surprising, but for some television brands, for example, the Kaliningrad company Erisson, ring cracks at the soldering points of circuit elements may appear already in the first year of operation of the device. For other manufacturers, this time can stretch for many years. In any case, such a malfunction is eliminated by carefully soldering the problem contacts.
Step two... The next step in the search for the cause of the malfunction will be to check the supply voltage on the personnel microcircuit. Depending on the type of chip used, one or two voltages can be supplied to it, for example, 9 and 45 volts. At the same time, the input circuits of the microcircuit are powered by a low voltage level, and by a higher voltage level, the output stage. Most often, the power to the personnel microcircuit is supplied from the unit of the combined TDKS transformer (diode-stage line transformer), but sometimes there are models in which the voltage is supplied directly from the TV's power supply.
It should be noted that power is supplied to the corresponding conclusions of the personnel microcircuit through protective (break) resistors. If these resistors fail, a horizontal strip is observed on the TV screen, so it can be concluded that the personnel microcircuit is out of order or is operating in overload mode.
Step three. If the breaking resistors are alive and well, then you should look for the cause of the problem in the electrolytic capacitors of the microcircuit strapping. Electrolyte malfunctions can be identified by their appearance: they usually swell and deform. Most often, the capacitors of the power supply circuit of the personnel microcircuit and the electrolytes of its output stage fail. Usually these are capacitors of increased capacity - about 1000-2000 uF.
If outwardly it is impossible to determine that the capacitor is out of order, then the malfunction can be eliminated by the usual replacement of a suspicious element with a guaranteed serviceable one.
Step four. The malfunction of the personnel microcircuit itself can be determined by cracks and chips on its case, as well as by unusually strong heating during operation.
Without a doubt, other reasons can cause the appearance of a horizontal strip on the TV screen, for example, a break in the wires of the personnel deflecting coils, but this happens extremely rarely.

Good day! Today we will try to raise a whole layer of problems of modern LCD matrices of monitors, TVs, laptops, tablets and smartphones - the appearance of vertical or horizontal thin stripes in the image - they can be of different colors and in different places. Why do these thin stripes appear on the matrix? I will try to explain, for a start, the design of the connection between the matrix and the loop with decoders.Below are different schemes that convey the same idea - anisotropic adhesive double-sided tape is used to connect the contacts of a flexible cable with the sprayed-on contacts of the matrix. The inside of this tape (in my opinion) contains conductive balls located at a sufficient distance between each other so that there is no electrical contact. The contact appears when the adhesive tape is heated and squeezed - the balls come together and conductivity appears.
It must be remembered that a decoder is placed on the flexible loop and the problem may be at the junction of the loop and the decoder.
How to understand that the loops are to blame - watch the English-language video on the topic.
How a Chinese man in a garage removes the loop with a decoder from the matrix, cleans out the remnants of the old anisotropic glue on the loop and on the matrix, and applies a new one.
