Then, according to the good old tradition, they decided to carry out the so-called conversion - to replace the independent front suspension with a dependent one and install a continuous front axle. The choice fell on units from Nissan Patrol Y61, which have proven themselves to be reliable and durable. Both bridges were replaced, at the same time, the main pairs with a gear ratio of 1: 4.8 were installed in them. Looking ahead, let's say that on wheels 37 inches high, the car now starts on the asphalt with a slip! The bridges were immediately scalded with steel reinforcements and equipped with ARB interlocks to reduce slipping. The rear suspension was almost not touched, they left the spring one, replacing only the earrings with tuning ones, which slightly increased the suspension travel. Although, in my opinion, revolving ones would be even more effective, because they would not only increase the stroke, but also facilitate twisting, significantly adding articulation. And a decrease in internal stresses in the operation of the suspension has a beneficial effect on its durability. But they installed ToughDog adjustable shock absorbers back.

To fit the spring-loaded front suspension, the front of the car had to be redesigned. Even the washer reservoir was replaced. One clung to the other. To fit the wheels and axle, it was necessary to move the axle forward 70 mm, as is usually the case with front suspension conversions. The frame was remade by cutting off all the original brackets. Then it was strengthened. And only then the mounting brackets for the new suspension were welded and the steering gear was installed.

All these fasteners must be thoroughly rinsed from dirt with a cleaner and rags. After that, take a hex key and insert it into the end of the lever. Next, we remove the rack and inspect it for faults.

Before installing new stands, you need to clean the mountings again. Then we mount the enlarged racks, tighten the fastening nuts, holding the axle shaft with a key. Next, we install the wheels and remove the pickup. You may not immediately notice, but after the installation of new elements, the 2015 Toyota Hilux became 4 mm higher. Not so much, but even this is quite enough for passing some obstacles on the road.
