DIY tricolor receiver repair

In detail: DIY repair of a tricolor receiver from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.

Satellite television is becoming more and more popular day by day. This is due primarily to the availability and high quality of the image in any area. In an attempt to reduce the cost of production and increase turnover, the manufacturer releases deliberately unfinished equipment on the market. But if a breakdown of the purchased equipment already takes place, it's time to figure out how to repair the Tricolor TV receiver yourself and not break your receiver at the same time.

Considering that most set-top boxes have one or another type of marriage, it is worth expecting that a breakdown can occur at any time.

If this happened during the warranty period, then it is better not to open the case yourself and not to violate the integrity of the factory seal.

Otherwise, no one will be able to repair the Tricolor TV receiver at the expense of the company. After making sure that more than a year has passed since the purchase, you can begin to independently detect problems. If there is no critical damage, then it is quite possible to repair the console without outside intervention. Most often, the reason lies in the following:

  1. The power supply fails, which is typical for a Tricolor TV receiver with a poor-quality assembly.

  2. The integrity of the cable is compromised, and as a result, moisture gets into the device.
  3. The software requires an update.

Removing the cover from the case, we can find the cause of the breakdown:

  • a large amount of accumulated dust, which probably caused overheating;
  • rainwater that easily reached the receiver through the damaged cable from the antenna;
  • blown fuse;
  • kinks or breaks in the adapter cord prevent the equipment from turning on.

If these faults are found, replacement will be required. In other cases, you need to have a multimeter, screwdriver, soldering iron and continuity at hand.

The same research should be done in the second circuit of the device. Damaged diodes and microcircuits may also remain there, which will not allow the Tricolor receiver to turn on again.

Original PWM controller chip almost impossible to find.

As a rule, in workshops, they are replaced with a more affordable version of KA5L0380, slightly changing the installation scheme.

If you are completely sure that you can do an independent repair of the Tricolor GS-8300 receiver and that the alteration of the power supply does not scare you, then the algorithm of actions will come in handy.

  1. You should start by deleting Q1, U1, R3, R4, R5, R6, C2, C3, R8, R11, R13, R7, R12, R9, R14.
  2. Check for operability and, if necessary, replace elements C14, C9, C15, C18.
  3. Note the transistor Q1 on the indicated microcircuit.
  4. Solder 1, 2, 3 legs KA5L0380 into the board.
  5. Connect the 4 leg with a wire with the U2 optocouplers.

Every man who has ever held a soldering iron in his hands may be able to cope with soldering the diodes and installing a new fuse, but problems may arise with replacing microcircuits and their installation scheme. A specialist repair is less expensive than buying a new receiver. But the final decision in any case is to be made only by the owner of the equipment.
