The concept of absolute constancy will always refer to fictitious definitions: sooner or later everything will fall into disrepair and requires its replacement or, at least, restoration (repair).
Power steering (GUR), being an active element of the car, is subject to wear and tear. Replacing it is a very common service in many service stations and auto repair shops, however, such repairs can be carried out independently.
Changing the power steering pump

For Ford Focus, the hydraulic booster, or rather, its replacement is not an act of constant repetition: the quality of the component parts makes itself felt, however, this process can occur at any time, and the most characteristic sign will be a noticeable extra effort when turning the steering wheel.
There are few reasons for this: if you began to notice that the steering wheel began to respond much worse to your "commands", there is only one conclusion: it is necessary to change the power steering pump.
In order to change the power steering pump Ford Focus 2, special sophistication from a motorist is not required: almost a basic set of tools (a set of heads, wrenches, screwdrivers, as well as elementary pliers).

  • Tools;
  • Set of heads;
  • Screwdriver Set;
  • New fluid (approximately 1.5 liters)
  • Jack;
  • Recoil devices,
  • Stands;
  • Balloon wrench

A kind of "beginning of the beginning" will be unscrewing and removing two mounting screws (upper and lower, respectively) of the mudguard from the right front wheel. Next, detach the fixing element of the holder, and then remove the holder itself, for which it is recommended to pry the first one with a flat screwdriver or any convenient device

Carefully remove the mudguard from the wheel. The next step is to dismantle the front wheel arch liner of the car, for which you will need to unscrew the N number of fastening screws: two from the engine protection, three from the front bumper, two from the protection of the engine compartment located in front of the shock absorber strut and one from the rear of the strut. Next, remove the drive belt from the accessories.

Then we proceed to removing the return line from the power steering tank in order to drain the working fluid. Also, the return line must be removed from the power steering pump. Next, you will need to unfasten the bracket that secures the line to the body, remove the injection line from this bracket, unscrew the screw that secures the bracket to the steering gear housing and, finally, disconnect the bracket from the crankcase.

The next line to be removed will be the pressure line, for which you need to unscrew the bolt and get rid of the fixing element. We got to the pump itself: we unscrew the two bolts of the power steering pump, disconnect the block of the wiring harness and, then get rid of the final two mounting bolts.
Dismantling of the hydraulic power steering pump is carried out in conjunction with the pressure line. The junction of the steering gear pipe with the power steering pump must be sealed and it is connected using a Teflon sealing ring.

Installation of the replaced hydraulic power steering pump is carried out in the reverse order. For convenience, it is recommended to mark in advance the place of attachment of the brackets to simplify assembly. Also, upon completion of the work, the air trapped in the system should be removed and the working fluid should be refilled in case of its shortage.

Fluid replacement gur ford focus 2

Despite the optimistic assurances that the Ford Focus 2 gur fluid is equivalent in terms of service life to the service life of the entire car, in fact, the question of replacing or, at least, adding oil arises much earlier.

Before the process of changing the oil, you should determine what power steering fluid Ford "used" before your intervention. This can be done in a corny, simple way: for this you should "take a sample" with a syringe and drop it onto a napkin or any tissue that comes to hand: the liquid will be either red or green. It is also possible to determine in advance as follows: cars with an electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS) require exclusively red fluid, while others get by with green.
