In detail: do-it-yourself repair of an angle trimmer gear from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
Trimmer reducer (petrol cutter gearbox, brushcutter gearbox) is a mechanical device located at the bottom of the trimmer (petrol cutters or brushcutters) and designed to transmit torque from the engine to the cutting equipment at an angle of 30 °, ensuring the operation of the cutting equipment in a horizontal plane (parallel to the ground surface) , as well as reducing the angular speed and increasing the torque of the output shaft in a ratio of 1: 1.40 (for example, if the engine operates at 12 thousand rpm, then the knife will rotate at a speed of 8.6 thousand rpm).
Malfunction - the trimmer gear is very hot. The malfunction of the petrol cutter gearbox and the brushcutter gearbox is the same as that of the trimmer. Causes malfunctions - lack of lubrication in the gearbox, improper lubrication or lack of rolling of the new gearbox (when the parts have not yet been worn down). Repair do-it-yourself trimmer - add grease to the trimmer gearbox, change the grease or run the trimmer in a gentle mode (use up three fuel tanks under light loads and with periodic stops for free cooling). PrivatBank in Kremenchug.
Malfunction trimmer - knocking, backlash and sticking when the trimmer gearbox shaft, brushcutter gearbox or petrol cutter gearbox rotates. Causes malfunctions - destruction of one of the bearings in the trimmer gearbox due to lack of lubrication in the gearbox, inappropriate lubrication, severe operating conditions of the trimmer, damage to the anthers on the bearings during their installation. Repair do-it-yourself trimmer - order the bearings from the dealer and replace them (there are two or three closed bearings) - for more details see below "How to disassemble the trimmer gearbox / petrol cutter gearbox / brushcutter gearbox".
Malfunction trimmer - the reducer wobbles or flies off the trimmer pipe. Causes malfunctions - mechanical damage to the gearbox housing - for example, if a piece of the housing breaks off with a strong knife hit against heavy metal or stone (or if the gearbox housing is damaged, for example, with a hammer during repairs). Repair trimmer with your own hands - replace the gear case. Or, if a small piece breaks off, make a metal clamp that tightens the break. Do-it-yourself repair of petrol cutters is similar to repairing a trimmer.
Malfunction trimmer - the reducer is not clamped on the pipe. As practice shows, the gearbox does not fly off the pipe at all, but theoretically it can fly off the pipe along with the rotating knife. The malfunction of the brushcutter is similar to the trimmer. Causes trimmer malfunctions - wear of the gearbox seat on the pipe (the aluminum of the pipe under the gearbox is worn out). Repair do-it-yourself trimmer - roll up the cloth tape on the pipe under the gearbox or replace the pipe.
Malfunction trimmer - the trimmer knife has completely stopped rotating (with a characteristic metallic sound) or stops rotating under high loads (with a hard gnawing sound). Causes faults - wear of the teeth on the bevel gear in the trimmer gear. Repair do-it-yourself trimmer - replace the pairs of bevel gears (the pair is replaced) in the gearbox - for more details, see below "How to disassemble the trimmer gearbox / petrol cutter gearbox / brushcutter gearbox".

In order to disassemble the trimmer gear, it is necessary.
Remove the gearbox from the pipe by loosening the two tie bolts under the gearbox.
Wash the gearbox with a brush, for example, in petrol without oil and dry it.
Using round nose pliers, bring the ends of the retaining ring together and remove it.
Remove the second circlip in the same way.
Then it is necessary to strongly heat the housing of the trimmer gearbox, brushcutter gearbox or petrol cutter gearbox with an industrial (technical) hairdryer at an outlet air temperature of 600 ° C.
Then, with strong blows of a wooden block on the upper part of the gearbox housing, knock out the driven shaft with the bearing and gear (first you should try to knock out the bearings without heating). You need to hit only with a wooden block, since a metal hammer, for example, can break the body.
In the same way, we remove the drive shaft with the bearing and the gear (we strongly heat the place where the bearings sit and by striking a wooden block on the housing coaxially with the shaft, knock out the shaft with two bearings and a gear). How to disassemble a trimmer reducer, a petrol cutter reducer and a brushcutter reducer. In order not to heat up, you can try using a camera.
Assembling the trimmer gearbox is performed in the reverse order of disassembly (assembly after purchase and replacement of faulty spare parts). Assembling the gearbox is much easier than disassembling - everything is literally assembled with your fingers. Sometimes you need to lightly tap something, install the circlip and check if the driven shaft is turning by hand.
If you decide replace the trimmer gear not original, then in a new gearbox you should pay attention to the diameter of the pipe for which the gearbox is intended (usually 25.4 mm or 26 mm), the diameter of the drive shaft (usually 8 mm), the size of the square of the drive shaft (usually 5 mm or a star on 9 teeth) and fastening the protection on the gearbox, as well as on the nut (with left-hand thread, usually M10x1.25).

Don't buy champion trimmers full of Chinese shit, throw them in the trash, and the Chinese suck. That's fucking so good.
I have a champion trimmer t 541 for 10 years. A year for 2 cows mows hay, plus (at home 1 hectare of land) weeds and weeds. I saw everything. Super. Perhaps they did better before
and I use my trimmer to harvest firewood in the planting - it freely knocks down and then chops the trees!
don't write nonsense in 2011, the champion bought t336 for 5200r, 32.6 cubic meters, trouble-free equipment, for all the time I changed only the candle after 4 seasons for prevention, the old one was working. All summer at work, mowing huge volumes of grass, mowing everything, oats, potato tops. Fuel consumption is scanty, I lubricate the trimmer reducer with lithol. Against the background of the rest of China, even more, just a song. of course the piston has already begun to creep, on the trail. I plan to buy a more powerful champion for the season, as well as the best equipment for its price, I don't see any reason to overpay twice for calm
Champion T334 purchased in 2009. Kosh, of course, only with a fishing line, from a knife it vibrates too much. As they say, it starts with half a turn. After the winter, you fill in gasoline and oil, the damper, suck in the gasoline and ... go ahead. He laid weeds with a height of one and a half meters, of course, several times. And in 2016 I learned that it was necessary to lubricate the gearbox ... because the teeth were worn out :) New in Teply Stan - 1000 rubles. And back to work. So with my trimer, I was definitely lucky.
I also have a champion t 226 fishing line herachit everything starts up almost immediately 2 seasons 10-12 refueling already the flight is normal) assembled soundly
It's clear how to fix it, but where to buy a conical pair?
With frequent, intensive use of brushcutters, the gearbox may start to warm up or make sounds unusual for its normal operation, for example, grinding. This indicates that the mechanism needs to be lubricated. If this is not done on time, then more serious problems will arise (for example, gears will quickly wear out and need to be replaced), up to jamming.Other breakdowns also occur with the transmission. You can repair and lubricate the gearbox yourself - for this you just need to familiarize yourself with the features of these works and stock up on some of the available tools.
A trimmer gear is a unit that transmits the rotational motion of the motor shaft to a knife or line. It is located at the lower end of the brushcutter bar. The transfer assembly is also designed to reduce the trimmer engine speed.
The mechanism consists, depending on the model of the brushcutter, of several gears rotating at high speed. As a result, they heat up due to strong friction. If there is not enough lubrication, or there is none at all, then the process leads to severe overheating and failure of parts, and, accordingly, the need to carry out complex repairs... To prevent this from happening, the transmission unit should be lubricated in time. The disassembled gearbox is shown in the photo below.
Gearboxes of modern trimmers of different models from different manufacturers differ from each other in design and size seat... It happens:
The most common round seat diameters are 24, 25.5 and 26 mm.
Brush cutters are equipped with gearboxes with different types of gears:
conical;
worm;
spiroid;
cylindrical;
planetary;
wave;
combined.
The drive shaft and gearbox are heavily loaded trimmer assemblies that are subject to significant wear. Between them, the movement is transmitted due to the engagement of the teeth of the gears located at different angles to each other. Effectively gear works only if there is no mechanical damage. In this case, the mechanism should not overheat, otherwise it may jam.
Various breakdowns occur with the gearbox of an electric or gasoline trimmer. The most common of them are presented in the table below. There you can also find the causes of their occurrence and methods of elimination.
Bearings are destroyed due to the use of inappropriate lubricant or due to lack of it. Also, their damage is caused by harsh operating conditions brushcutters and the ingress of foreign particles of material (for example, broken metal teeth of mechanical transmissions) due to the fact that the integrity of the anthers is broken.
To remove the bearing, you need to disassemble the gearbox and use special puller. If not, then you can try to do it with a hammer with a guide. In this case, work should be done carefully so as not to damage the seat. It is not recommended to use the preheating method to shoot the bearing. This is due to the fact that the metal may lose the required performance.
If the knife stops rotating under load or does not stop at all, then this is accompanied by an uncharacteristic sound.
Most gearbox problems can be easily fixed by hand. It is recommended to purchase replacement parts "native", intended for the used brushcutter model.
Gears must be lubricated regularly in accordance with the recommendations set out in operating instructions used model. This should also be done if:
new gears were installed;
atypical sounds emanate from the gearbox during trimmer operation;
knives turn hard.
In addition to the gearbox, the trimmer shaft must also be lubricated regularly. This is the norm for proper care of the device.
With continuous use of the trimmer, the transmission is subjected to stress from grass adhering to the blades, dirt, or due to changes in torque. The lubricant must be selected of high quality in order to extend the life of the gearbox.
When choosing a lubricant, you must consider the following factors:
the degree of adhesion of the composition to the metal of the assembly;
product brand;
consumption of lubricant by the transmission mechanism.
Well-known manufacturers such as,Stihl, Husqvarna and others, in addition to trimmers, also produce grease for them. These products not only reduce wear, but also protect the metal of the gears from corrosion. Therefore, for brushcutters from these brands, it is better to use their own lubricant products.
If the compound used for lubrication has good adhesion, then it practically does not squeeze out of the gearbox through the gaps.
Different models have different grease consumption. This is largely determined by the intensity of use of the brushcutter and the heating of the transmission mechanism. The lubricant is considered to be sufficient if the temperature of the gear unit during operation does not exceed40 ° C.
In terms of composition, the following types of lubricants are in demand:
graphite, significantly reducing friction, as a result of which the rotation of the gears is improved;
lithium, which are also an excellent anti-corrosion composition, saturated with additives that increase the wear resistance of the metal without harmful substances;
universalcontaining highly refined mineral oils and components that improve performance.
Examples of suitable lubricants are: Champion EP-0, Gear Grease OREGON, Oleo-Mas, Azmol 158, Litol -24. You should also pay attention to the advice of manufacturers on this issue and use the materials they offer. You can buy them at specialized retail outlets.

To lubricate the transmission mechanism, its preliminary no disassembly needed... A special hole for these purposes is already embedded in the device (it is shown in the photo below). In addition to gears, when carrying out lubrication, attention should be paid to the following elements of the mechanism:
bearing unit;
flywheel and starter coil pawl.
Grease injection hole
Fill in oil or add solid lubricant through the grease nipple closed with a screw. In this case, the actions are performed in the following sequence:
clean the gear case from dirt and adhering grass, especially carefully the area around the plug so that debris does not get inside the mechanism;
using the appropriate tool (often it comes with a trimmer), unscrew the plug;
into the open technological hole, the selected lubricant is injected from a tube, or using a syringe, as shown in the photo below;
screw the plug into place.
Gear lubrication
When applying lubricant, you need to rotate the knife so that it is evenly distributed over the teeth of the moving gears.
If for any reason the gearbox needs to be disassembled, then the old lubricant must be completely removed from the entire surface of the gears and the housing, the shaft, and only then use a new one. The disassembled mechanism can be conveniently lubricated with solid compounds.
The whole gear lubrication process is demonstrated in the video:
It is required to lubricate the transmission unit at least once a year, but it is recommended to do this every 20 hours of intensive use of the brushcutter. If the first signs of malfunctions with the mechanism appear, then the lubricant must be added as soon as possible.
To replace the gearbox with a similar part from the same manufacturer, it must first be disassembled and removed from the rod. In this case, they act according to the following algorithm:
loosen the tie bolts located under the transmission;
using round nose pliers, remove two corkscrew rings;
using a puller, pull the bearings from the driven and drive shafts;
then the mechanism is assembled, installing all the parts in reverse order.
Disassembled transmission mechanism is shown in the photo below.
If the puller is not at hand, then you can try carefully knock down the bearings... When they have become attached and do not budge at all, you can heat them up with an industrial hair dryer (at a temperature of 600 ° C) and remove them.
Assembling the transfer assembly is easier than disassembling it. You may only need to tap lightly with a hammer to set the parts in place. After assembly, it is imperative to check that the driven shaft can be turned by hand.
When there is a need to replace the transfer unit with a non-original part, then it should be taken into account theirinterchangeability... It should be borne in mind:
rod diameter (this parameter is often 25.4 or 26 mm);
parameters of the drive shaft - the shape of the docking place and the diameter (its common value is 8 mm);
option for securing protection.
If the considered parameters match, then it will be possible to install a part from other models.
Timely lubrication of the gearbox will ensure its long-term operation without repairs. In addition, modern materials protect the metal well from corrosion and increase its wear resistance. When choosing, preference should be given to the lubricant recommended by the manufacturer of the trimmer being operated. If it is not possible to acquire such compositions, then the considered or other analogs suitable in terms of properties should be used. When it is necessary to disassemble the mechanism during repairs, this should be done carefully so as not to damage individual parts.
