The next step is to remove the front part of the heater housing. Dismantling the damaged part and installing a new one is not very difficult. The only question that may arise during dismantling is how to remove the draft of the VAZ-2110 heater damper. Although it is plastic, it sits extremely tightly on the shaft. To dismantle it, you will need two screwdrivers. Use a thin screwdriver to lift the fastening lever, the second screwdriver unclenches the plastic protrusions of the pull. After disconnecting the rod, the upper latch will drop down on its own, since nothing else will hold it.
When installing a new part, pay attention to the fork located on the valve axis. It is important to secure it in such a way that it engages with the lever. Then follow the reverse assembly procedure according to the dismantling steps. Pour coolant back into the system and check if the new damper works in place. It is important to make sure that there are no leaks and that the hose connections are not tight.

The car's heating system is a necessary element for our harsh winters. The VAZ 2110 stove allows you to heat the interior well enough so as not to freeze. As practice shows, the reliability of heating of domestic cars cannot fully satisfy the requirements of motorists. She refuses at the most inopportune moment, when it's cold outside. The VAZ 2110 stove belongs to such devices, and therefore the ability to repair it yourself helps in a difficult situation.
The heating system of a VAZ consists of the heat source itself (stove), a heat distribution system throughout the cabin and a control system. The heating and heat distribution system is combined with the interior ventilation system. The heat flow is controlled by an air damper (older designs used a tap). The air that is supplied to the passenger compartment is heated, passing through the radiator of the VAZ 2110 stove, and is distributed through the distribution system.
Most of the flow is directed to the windshield and side windows, through the deflectors equipped with flaps, as well as to the center of the passenger compartment. Another stream is directed to the feet of the driver and the passenger seated next to it (through two pairs of deflectors located at floor level and knee level), as well as through a tunnel on the floor and two air vents under the front seats to the rear seat, at floor level.
The VAZ stove fan provides three modes: low and medium speed and automatic speed selection (according to the signal from the control unit). The electric motor of the furnace fan is a collector, direct current. The consumed current at the highest speed of rotation is 14 A. The setting of the speed mode of the electric motor is made by changing its connection to the car battery, directly (maximum speed) or through an additional resistance.
This resistor has a changeable resistance of 0.23 ohms and 0.82 ohms. If the maximum resistance is connected to the circuit, then the fan rotates at a low speed, and if it is less (0.23 Ohm), then at an average speed. When repairing a VAZ 2110 stove, it is not recommended to remove the fan blades from the motor shaft: this can lead to imbalance. The electric motor cannot be repaired (except for cleaning the collector contacts); if it fails, it is advisable to replace it together with the fan blades.
The radiator of the VAZ stove is located below the dashboard and has a plastic casing. It contains two plastic tanks (one of them, on the left, has a steam outlet) and two rows of aluminum tubes with plates. Depending on how the dampers are located, a variable flow of intake air is passed through the radiator (in the extreme positions of the dampers, all air passes or does not pass at all), and the rest of the air is directed into the air vents, bypassing the radiator. The new VAZ 2110 stove is controlled by signals from the electronic unit.
The unit receives information about the temperature in the passenger compartment from a sensor located on the ceiling and equipped with a micro-fan. If necessary, the unit can activate a micromotor that controls the heater flaps. The electric micromotor has a stove damper position sensor (ring resistor).
The information from this sensor is sent to the control unit, which turns off the micromotor if the damper takes a predetermined position. The heating system of the VAZ of the new model has an automatic mode (position "A"), in which the control unit provides, in addition to monitoring the engine gearbox, also control of the fan rotation.
Usually, stove malfunctions are detected at the onset of the heating season, although prevention should be carried out in the warm season. With the onset of winter, drivers begin to notice that the VAZ 2110 heating system does not work well or does not want to work at all. There are several types of malfunctions that require stove repair:
- The heater temperature cannot be adjusted.
- Damper or gearbox malfunctions.
- Radiator fluid leak.
- Broken ceiling temperature sensor.
- Failure of the control unit.
Often the VAZ 2110 heater heats up badly because of its radiator. Therefore, it is necessary to check if the radiator is hot. If necessary, it is replaced. Difficulties with heating may appear due to the lack of liquid in the cooling system of the car engine. The first step is to measure the liquid level. To check the condition of the VAZ stove, you will have to remove the central deflectors. For this, the antennae are bent and the shutter is shifted. Installing, replacing or upgrading a VAZ stove will require the use of tools such as:
- screwdriver;
- pliers;
- tweezers;
- a set of socket and wrenches;
- knife;
- scissors;
- hammer;
- mallet;
- chisel;
- calipers.
When the temperature in the passenger compartment cannot be controlled, the reasons may be deviations in the operation of the control unit or a malfunction of the damper. If the stove controller is to blame, then the command to extend the damper element does not pass. You should immediately check the temperature sensor located on the ceiling.
The check can be carried out by repeatedly changing the position of the temperature setting lever. Warming up the air flow can be analyzed by the tactile method - by determining the performance of the sensor in the extreme position of the handle.
To check the stove itself, you will have to remove the central deflectors. The damper is accessible through the engine compartment. Modernization of the VAZ stove in this case is the replacement of the old damper with an aluminum one instead of a plastic one. The greatest amount of effort will be required when you need to replace the stove radiator, since the entire VAZ heating system must be removed.
If the fan produces only cold air, we can assume that the stove is faulty; moreover, with a probability of 90%, the geared motor is to blame, and only its replacement will help. At the same time, the VAZ heating system is repaired in the following order:
- The wipers are dismantled.
- Frill steps aside.
- The three mounting screws are unscrewed.
- The wires move aside.
- The old gearbox is removed and a new gearmotor is installed.
- The assembly is carried out in the reverse order.
With a poor supply of warm air due to the fault of the air duct, a small modernization of the VAZ stove and air ducts suggests itself. Refinement is carried out in two ways: by installing a system of corrugated hoses and by insulating the side panels, which is mainly associated with gluing gaps and gaps. Corrugations are used with a diameter of 40 mm, and the slots are sealed with polyurethane foam.
The VAZ heating system, if installed before 2006, has old type stoves. In this regard, it is advisable to replace it with a new type of stove. So, heaters 2112-01 and 2112-02 proved to be quite effective. Pre-heaters can be installed to accelerate heating. The main content of such a system is the installation of a 6-hole thermostat instead of the standard one in the engine cooling system. Prevention of the good operation of the heating system can include drastic measures:
- replacement of the heater with a new type of stove;
- revision and modernization of the VAZ stove;
- changing the control scheme;
- new heating system VAZ 2110 injector.
