DIY viburnum mirror repair

In detail: DIY repair of a viburnum mirror from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.

side mirror Lada Kalina

The outside rear-view mirror on Lada Kalina is arranged and dismantled very simply and conveniently, like everything on this model of a domestic car (in my opinion, the best in terms of price-quality ratio).

The mirror is ready for installation

This particular mirror is also suitable for Tens and Priors. As we can see in the photo above, here is the same principle of mirror mounting as on the rest of the Lada, with one slight difference. The side mirror is mounted on three self-tapping screws for a curly screwdriver (see photo above).

The cover closes after installing the mirror

The side mirror itself (in this case, a simple one, without a turn signal repeater, with manual adjustment) consists of two parts. The main part (the mirror itself) and the protective cover. Connect these parts neatly and precisely by joining the grooves on the mirror and the inserts on the lid and press it down. It should click into place.

We fasten three screws on the mirror

Next, from the outside of the door, lean the mirror so that all three guides and the connection of the cables fall into place (photo above). Then, screw and tighten the three self-tapping screws. Make sure that the mirror on the outside of the door is level, properly.

Close the inner lid

And now, that same "one small difference" - instead of the Zhiguli plastic nut, which we fasten to the connection of the control cables, here it is attached all the same Zhiguli corkscrew, which on the classic attaches the larva of the door lock. Finally, slide the plastic panel so that the adjustment lever fits into the rubber frame, place the two rails against the corresponding holes and press down.

Mirror on Kalina, price 3000 rubles (with mechanical adjustment and without repeater)

Hello everyone, and today there will be an article on replacing the mirror element of the outside mirror on Kalina. Not so long ago there was a comment on one entry with a request to publish such material, and now - finally it turned out to make a visual aid for this repair.

So, we practically don't need anything from the tool, a maximum of two screwdrivers: with a flat and with a cruciform blade. In principle, you can do this without removing the mirror from the car, but it is, of course, more convenient to work with the removed one.

The video was edited from my YouTube channel.

And below everything will be shown with photo instructions.

The first step is to turn the mirror element with your hands to the extreme position in order to obtain the maximum clearance. This is clearly shown in the photo below.

And through the resulting gap, using a screwdriver or fingers, it is necessary to release the element from the latches.

In general, if you stick your fingers, then you can easily bend the latches one at a time, and turning the mirror with the other side, free yourself from the latches in a circle.

We remove the element to the end, since after detaching it from the clamps, nothing else fixes it.

In the photo above, everything is clearly visible, with the help of which the mirror element is attached to Kalina! The new one fits into place by hand, effortlessly, pressing the element evenly in the center so that it sits down until it clicks! The main thing is that these are not clicks from a broken mirror.

On Kalina, a new mirror element costs about 200 rubles, so the price is quite low compared to the assembled mirror itself.

How to disassemble a car mirror

There are many reasons for disassembling a car side mirror. It can be a desire to paint it, or to tidy it up after some reckless driver has hooked it. How to disassemble car mirror, and before that, how quickly and easily to remove it, interests many motorists. From inept movements, a car mirror can completely deteriorate and then it will be necessary to buy a new one, and as a result, the installation of a mirror in a car service will follow.

But there are many brands and even more car models, as well as mirrors for them. There are also many varieties of mirrors - with an electric drive, folding, with elements of turns, and so on. The most important thing is how to remove it so as not to damage it. Following are the general steps to take to disassemble a car side mirror.

First dismantle

Naturally, it will be more convenient to disassemble the mirror removed from the car, so it should be removed. What is needed for this?

Removing a mechanically driven mirror. First you need to remove the retaining bracket of the mirror regulator, unscrew the three screws that secure the mirror to the door frame, and then remove the mirror itself.

Removing the power mirror. The first thing to do is to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Next, you need to disconnect the block with the wires of the electric drive, unscrew the three screws that secure the mirror to the door and remove it.
