In detail: t 16 checkpoint do-it-yourself repair from a real master for the site my.housecope.com.
I assembled a home-made tractor: the rear axle from the GAZ-69, put the side axles from the T-16 on the rear axle, the gearbox from the GAZ-69 is installed through the distributor.
Roma (Armaghan) ON-BOARD GEARBOX.In it the reason, through it the wheels and rotate in the opposite direction.
Roma (Armaghan) If so, then it is necessary to turn the reducer (planetary) in the gas-.69 bridge
Larisa (Ninon) Thank you, Roman. And if you remove the transfer case and put the cardan from the box on the bridge without turning the gearbox over.
Roma (Armaghan) And you can have a photo of how everything is connected, otherwise it is difficult to understand in words.
Roma (Armaghan) The rozdatka in the prince cannot change the direction of rotation, that is, the exit from the box and from the distribution box must rotate in the same direction.

The video shows the main points that you need to pay attention to during the assembly of the Gearbox.
Guys, how to properly assemble a box on the K 701, and check it ??
Simion (Olen) how to assemble it you need to know in a nutshell you can't explain it, but it's easy to check - you connected the MTZ to the PTO shaft by a cardan shaft and you twist it, you watch the pressure in all modes, how does it switch, are there any jerks?
Eugene (Zante) And if you check with air?
Simion (Olen) does not get air out into the narrowest spaces and does not achieve a pressure of 8-9 atm. at the same time the oil presses on the rubber seals and closes all the cracks
Video (click to play).
Eugene (Zante) This is clear, it can be seen whether the package works or not
Simion (Olen) disks of course will shift, but whether it slips or not, it's hard to understand
Eugene (Zante) And do you add the disc to the first gear?
Eugene (Zante) Please tell me if the disks are slipping, what should be done?
Simion (Olen) just change rims
Evgeniy (Zante) And if all the new ones are stuck and skid, or is there no pressure?
Simion (Olen) turn the valve half a turn
Wakif (Janette) Better not to take it without an experienced mentor or locksmith, it is better at the station and press after assembly.
Eugene (Leosia) it is very difficult to repair the booster shaft in the garage, even in special workshops after the repair, the shaft does not run very long, but if you carefully put the filter and new rubber bands on the shaft, then there will be no problems

The T-16 tractor (self-propelled tractor chassis or "chassis") is the brainchild of the Kharkov Tractor Plant. The release of the model began in 1961 and lasted 6 years. The T-16 is a deep modernization of the DSSH-14 self-propelled chassis. The model differs from its predecessor with a new type of engine, low-pressure tires, remote cylinders and a hinged hydraulic system. The creators of the "shassik" were the employees of the Kharkov Special Design Bureau.
The T-16 tractor, produced by the employees of the plant in the city of Kharkov, has a self-propelled chassis. It is a highly modernized version of the DSSH-14. It has an improved engine, bypass cylinders, an outboard hydraulic system, and lower pressure tires. The first models were released in 1961. The release lasted for six years. During this time, more than 600 thousand copies were made.
It is still widely used in agriculture. It is used as a machine for working on a personal plot or various kinds of procurement activities.It has proven itself well in working conditions with high soil moisture, has excellent cross-country ability.
The originally laid down functionality included a wide range of works in the field of vegetable growing: irrigation of fields, harvesting, various tilling activities. Subsequently, it found much wider application as a loading technique for performing tasks in conditions of poor cross-country ability and during construction.
It has a huge set of additional removable accessories: a hay mowing device, a compressor, a small loader, a stacker, a sprayer.
The successor to this model was the T-16M with a 25 horsepower engine and an improved gearbox. It was also distinguished by the presence of a frame two-door cabin and an awning. This equipment was used until 1995. By reducing the minimum permissible speed to 1.5 km / h, it has become practically indispensable for public utilities and road construction works.
The engine, located at the rear of the hull, has 16 horsepower and is air cooled. Maximum travel speed 17 km / h.
Dimensions: length - 382 cm, height - 260 cm, width - 200 cm.
The distance between the roadbed and the bottom is 56 cm.
Weight - 1.7 tons.
Specific fuel consumption is 4.5 g / kW per minute.
It has a rigid frame with various facing elements. With each new version, individual components were added or improved, from the roof and door panels to glass. The protective cage prevents injury and contributes to increased structural stability. Prevents exhaust gases or precipitation from entering the passenger compartment. Consists of metal rectangular tubes welded together for extra strength, bolted together. The ventilation system is installed on the roof. Inside the case are glass cleaners, sun shield, hooks and mirrors. There was also a toolbox mounted on the left wing. Along the perimeter of the case there are a large number of fasteners for connecting additional equipment, which makes it even more versatile.
Given the fact that the production of this instance has been stopped, it is impossible to obtain a new unit. Among the options available is buying a used tractor in good condition. It is worth paying attention to the functionality of the mechanisms and finding out in detail where it was used. Due to the simplicity of the design, it is easy to repair and normalize. The price for such a model will be from 70 to 200 thousand rubles.

After replacing the clutch shaft and the input shaft gear, I tried to adjust the gearing according to the manual. Gears from different stores. As a result, the little end howls quite strongly. Why howl? Or too little meshing clearance, or are the gears like that? What can be done? I don't want to remove the engine again to add glass gaskets. Who went through this, please advise
I don't want to remove the engine again to add glass gaskets.
you may have to do just that. Have you looked at the mesh, determined how it is located on the gears?

I don't want to remove the engine again to add glass gaskets.
you may have to do just that. Have you looked at the mesh, determined how it is located on the gears?
No. If you did, then teach how to do it in practice. I replaced both ends, did not touch the gaskets and was surprised. The backlash is huge. Threw out two gaskets from the primary. Again the gap. I threw out all the gaskets from the glass - backlash. Replaced a 1, 2 mm thick cardboard spacer under the glass with a 0.6 mm thin one. The run in gears is barely noticeable. I tried to roll the paper for the printer in half, as one advised. It seems that it does not tear, only in one place there are small tubercles in the teeth - it broke. Well, I think he'll get used to it. It doesn’t look like it’s true enough. So I think, if the reason is a small gap, try to put a gasket under the glass of the input shaft without disassembling the gearbox. If it stops howling, it’s good, but it doesn’t stop, so the gears are like that. Although you will have to disassemble, as you say. Write step by step how you regulated. I think your experience will help many.
A catalog of spare parts for T-16M is presented with a detailed image of the diagrams, as well as drawing numbers approved by the manufacturer. The appendix provides a mock assembly of a part from the original elements, which provides an understanding of the device of any subassembly.
In addition, the T-16M spare parts catalog has been published for informational purposes only. Looking through the catalog pages, it is possible to clarify the assembly sequence of any unit, which significantly reduces the time when searching for a tractor breakdown.
At the same time, the site contains other information on various tractors, as well as cars and trucks.
There are tractors whose popularity among the people is practically not affected by the release of new and more modern agricultural units. These tractors include the legendary T-16, better known to domestic farmers as the "chassis". It is easy to use and repair with your own hands, versatile, and, importantly, extremely hardy - these are the features that are most appreciated by our farmers in the famous tractor.
The basis, the "heart" of the "Shassik" T-16 tractor is its D-16 engine. Initially, the T-16 tractors were equipped with engines with a capacity of 16 liters. with., however, later, more powerful engines with an output of 25 liters were added to the assembly of the units. With. Tractors with such engines were named T-16M, and their production was extended until 1995.
The engines of the first T-16 units were equipped with simple but very efficient air cooling systems. The motors themselves worked in 4 strokes and had 2 cylinders. Additionally, a gas distribution system and a connecting rod mechanism were installed on the tractor engine. A distinctive feature of the first T-16 models was the location of the motors in their design - the engines in them were located in the rear, not in the front. To start the engine, an electric starter was provided in the design of each tractor.
The design of the tractor transmission included a 7-speed manual gearbox and a belt-type dry braking system. The presence of such a checkpoint allowed the tractor to move in the speed range from 1.5 to 17.5 km / h. The transmission was located in the front of the T-16 tractor structure. All of its parts are made from durable metal alloys that are highly resistant to wear and corrosion.
The T-16 tractor is equipped with a friction single-plate clutch. It is quite reliable and trouble-free even when operating the tractor in the most difficult weather conditions.
The legendary unit has a rigid frame, the surface of which is lined with many reinforcing elements. Later models of the T-16 were additionally equipped with a roof, panels and doors that protect the driver from precipitation. If necessary, the tractor cab can be disassembled.
Each Shassik tractor is equipped with a comfortable driver's seat that can be adjusted according to the driver's weight and height.For additional comfort, an armrest was provided in the driver's cab. In more detail, the interior of the cabin of the T-16 tractor can be studied in the photo.
For movement on the unit in its cab, there is a standard steering and pedals, which are connected to the control levers by means of pins and tips.
Special attention should be paid to the presence of a powerful coupling mechanism in the design of the unit, which allows you to install almost any attachment on an agricultural machine.
The simple design of the legendary agricultural machine greatly simplifies its self-repair and maintenance. Due to the free access to the main mechanisms of the unit, its owner did not need to dismantle parts to fill in oil or replace consumables.
The high popularity of the T-16 unit is largely due to its good performance. It is thanks to them that the legendary "chassis" is considered by many experts to be a universal unit.
The characteristics of the T-16 tractor include:
engine power - 16 hp With.;
motor brand - D16;
speed range - 3.72-19.5 km / h;
available track width adjustment - 155-200 cm;
maximum load for transportation on a platform - 750 kg;
ground clearance - 56 cm;
PTO rotation speed - 533 rpm;
weight - 1685 kg.
The fuel consumption of the unit is quite modest, and amounts to about 272 g / kWh when operating under medium loads. The tractor consumes most fuel when it is used as a loader.
Not every novice farmer knows how to properly start a T-16 tractor. The launch of "Shassik" has certain nuances, without adhering to which, the unit will simply stall.
To start the tractor you must:
Sit in the driver's seat and find the ground toggle switch located above the battery - in most cases, the toggle switch looks like a simple iron button;
After pressing the toggle switch once, power is supplied to the electrical devices of the tractor;
There is a decompression lever on the left side of the tractor cab - it must be pulled upwards, thereby turning the auxiliary engine;
In front of the dashboard is the engine start mechanism - it does not look like a standard ignition key, but like a small lever. After turning the lever, the tractor's electric starter is started;
The started electric starter will start to spin the tractor motor - if the engine is in good working order, it will take no more than 15 seconds. to achieve the required speed by the auxiliary motor;
After 15 sec. the decompression lever must be pulled down, thereby starting the main diesel engine of the tractor. In this case, it is necessary to smoothly press the gas pedal. The video will tell you about starting the engine of the T-16 tractor.
VIDEO It is quite possible that you will not be able to start the T-16 tractor the first time. In this case, you need to repeat the entire start-up procedure from the very beginning.
The biggest advantage of the T-16 tractor lies in its versatility. Correctly balanced design and excellent technical characteristics make it possible to use various attachments for working with the tractor.
Most often, the following equipment is used for operation in tandem with the unit:
plow - a large two-body device can be used to work on large areas;
mower - a rotary design will help mow large weeds in large enough areas:
potato digger and potato planter - will allow you to plant and harvest potatoes in areas up to 15 acres;
harrow - makes it possible to make neat furrows in areas with heavy clay soil;
trailer - the total weight of the loaded structure should not exceed 750 kg. Otherwise, the wheels of the tractor will give in to an increased load;
rake - will help to clean the garden after harvesting and prepare the site before autumn cultivation;
blade - used to clear the local area and the roadway from snow, If necessary, a sweeping brush can be used in tandem with the blade.
If necessary, the T-16 can be used together with a kun, however, it is possible to work with this device only if the hydraulics of the unit are fully operational, and the valves are adjusted correctly.
Another attachment can be used to work with the unit. For this, a preliminary modernization of the unit must be done by replacing the standard motor with a more powerful engine and increasing the wheelbase. This allows you to turn the T-16 tractor into a real all-terrain vehicle capable of easily and quickly overcoming rough terrain.
Numerous reviews of tractor owners indicate the highest endurance of the unit, its maneuverability, ease of use and long service life. It is thanks to these properties that the T-16 "Shassik" tractor is still in demand among novice and experienced farmers.
For more than 30 years, from 1961 to 1995, the Kharkov self-propelled tractor chassis plant produced the T-16 tractor. It is still actively used by farmers today: it is used as an excavator, loader, bulldozer, for mowing, hilling potatoes and vegetables, transporting goods and even plowing. Unlike conventional agricultural tractors, on the T-16, the engine and transmission are located at the rear, and the front is an open tubular frame designed for mounting attachments. This design allows the tractor driver from his seat to clearly see the row spacing of the working bodies of the mounted implements.
Compactness, good cross-country ability, maneuverability and simplicity of design have led to the fact that today the owners of equipment continue to independently upgrade this machine. For example, a plow, row cultivator, seeder, potato digger are attached. Craftsmen install a front drive axle on the T-16, a mechanical winch, the tractor's cross-country ability is further increased.
The basis for the design of the T-16 tractor was the self-propelled chassis DSSH-14, which were produced at the Kharkov plant of self-propelled tractor chassis (Ukraine) from 1961 to 1967, and the tractor was also produced here. Almost 600 thousand of such cars were produced. Until now, rural residents use the T-16 for procurement and household work, and it is in great demand.
The tractor is equipped with a diesel internal combustion engine with compression ignition, brand D21, four-stroke, two-cylinder, 16 hp. with., with a 7-speed gearbox. The diesel engine uses a distribution type fuel pump ND-21/2 with an uneven alternation of operating strokes (through 180 ° and 540 °), which is necessary for two-cylinder engines with a single-row arrangement of cylinders and with crankshaft cranks located at an angle of 180 °.
The high-pressure fuel pump is equipped with: a fuel priming pump with a hand pump and a small-sized centrifugal all-mode regulator with a fuel supply corrector. Fuel filtration is provided by slit-type pre-filters and fine filters with replaceable paper filter elements. The diesel engine uses an air cleaner with an inertial element and automatic dust removal (first stage) and with an oil-contact element (second stage).
Oil filtration is performed by a full-flow reactive oil centrifuge. Cooling is done with air supplied by an axial fan. The engine is started using a 2.8 liter electric starter. with., which is powered by a storage battery with a voltage of 12 V and a capacity of 135 A. h. To facilitate the start-up, CH-150 glow plugs were used.
The gearbox is three-shaft, with transverse shafts, but does not have a full reversal of gears. Provides seven forward gears (of which one is slow) and one is reverse. It is located in the common transmission housing.The internal cavity of the transmission housing isolated from oil penetration is the clutch housing, to which the self-propelled chassis engine is consularly attached.
The T-16 chassis frame consists of front and rear beams and side pipes, to which strips with holes are welded from below. Together with special platforms at the chassis of the tractor and the openings of the front beam of the frame, the slats are used to fasten mounted machines and implements.
There are two partitions inside the cast cavity of the rear beam. The bushings of the steering transverse shaft are pressed into their holes. The inner cavity of the rear beam is also used as an oil reservoir for the hydraulic system. Brackets for attaching the hydraulic distributor and battery supports are welded to the left frame tube. The front beam has a fork-shaped lug for connection with the front axle balancer.
The universal self-propelled chassis is a type of wheeled row-crop tractor. The self-propelled chassis differs from an ordinary tractor in its layout: the engine is compactly located behind the cab, and in front of it there is an open frame and a front axle. The frame is usually two-girder, rarely single-girder. Various mounted agricultural or special equipment is mounted on it, in the basic configuration - a dump body.
Due to the fact that the equipment is located in front of the cab, it is clearly visible and easy to operate. As a rule, it can be quickly mounted and removed. The attachments are controlled hydraulically. Usually, a significant part of the units and parts of a self-propelled chassis is unified with a wheeled universal row-crop tractor with similar characteristics.
Oil filtration is performed by a full-flow reactive oil centrifuge. Cooling is done with air supplied by an axial fan. The engine is started using a 2.8 liter electric starter. with., which is powered by a storage battery with a voltage of 12 V and a capacity of 135 Ah.
To facilitate the start-up, CH-150 glow plugs were used. The gearbox is three-shaft, with transverse shafts, but does not have a full reversal of gears. Provides seven forward gears (of which one is slow) and one is reverse. It is located in the common transmission housing. The internal cavity of the transmission housing isolated from oil penetration is the clutch housing, to which the self-propelled chassis engine is consularly attached.
Open, without a cab and a canopy, the tractor driver's workplace is located at the back, in front on the frame - a mount for additional equipment. Thanks to the non-standard layout, the T-16 self-propelled chassis can work with a variety of agricultural implements and units: a plow, a row cultivator, a seeder, a potato digger, a hiller, a cargo dump platform, various types of loaders, a chain saw, a grader shovel, a brush for cleaning roads (installed under the frame) , an excavator, a compressor station, a stacker, a mowing machine, a sprayer, etc. On the T-16 self-propelled chassis, a front drive axle is attached and a mechanical winch is installed, thereby increasing the machine's throughput.
In 1967, the self-propelled chassis was modernized, which received an air-cooled diesel engine with a capacity of 25 liters. with., a new gearbox and the designation T-16M, a frame cabin was already installed on it.
On the T-16M tractor, a double clutch with combined control is used. The clutch of a self-propelled chassis has a peculiarity, in which the linings of the driven disc of the main clutch have a larger area and a larger friction radius than the linings of the driven disc of the PTO drive clutch (power take-off shaft). Therefore, the PTO drive clutch has increased safety functions against the effects of dynamic loads.
VIDEO
The central gear of the T-16M tractor consists of a drive spur gear, fixed on the secondary shaft of the gearbox, and a driven gear, pressed onto the differential housing. The differential housing rotates in two bearings fixed in cups installed in the side bores of the transmission housing. The differential of the T-16M self-propelled chassis is of a closed type. Locking is performed by a toothed end clutch.
The final drive of the tractor is a single-stage gear, mounted in two separate cast housings, which are connected to the rear axle housing by means of intermediate brake hoses. The main parts of these final drives are interchangeable, with the exception of the crankcase and its stamped pallet.
Tractor brakes are simple, band, installed in the sleeves of the differential axle shafts. The semi-frame body of the T-16M self-propelled chassis is formed by a cast body of a central welded tubular semi-frame. On a self-propelled chassis, the engine assembly with the clutch is attached to the main gear housing, and the semi-frame remains an open cargo dump platform. Due to the use of wheels of increased standard size, the carrying capacity has increased.
Since 1986, the production of a modernized self-propelled chassis T-16MG has begun, on which a full-fledged cabin and an improved diesel engine D-21 A1 are installed, the power has remained the same - 25 hp. With. Improvements have affected many units and mechanisms, the reliability of the tractor has increased. A serious advantage of this wheeled tractor is its versatility when used on various soils, since the wheels do not cause much damage to the ground cover of agricultural land, unlike metal tracks. In 1995, the production of the T-16 tractor was discontinued.

In addition to the basic T-16M, the plant produced its specialized modifications: T-16MMCH - for work on tea plantations, T-16MT - low clearance, for work in greenhouses, T-16MG - with a cargo dump platform. The enterprise produced the T-16M chassis and its modifications until the early 1990s.
Many farmers and villagers recognize that the T-16 tractor is the most versatile and useful of all small tractors. Unpretentious to use, easy to repair and very reliable, the T-16 tractor has won nationwide recognition and affectionate nicknames - "shassik", "dashechka", "beggar", "shaitan", "waiter".
At first, the car was used for work in vegetable growing, spraying trees, transporting small loads in difficult-to-pass places. It was also used in small construction teams, for the transportation of stones, sand, wood, winches, sawmills, welding machines, etc. Then it gained popularity in other areas: it began to be used by road, utilities and organizations, farmers and rural residents (in an individual farm).
The basis for the development of the T-16 tractor was the DSSH-14 self-propelled chassis, which were produced at the Kharkov self-propelled tractor chassis plant (Ukraine) from 1961 to 1967. It was equipped with a 16 hp diesel two-cylinder engine, the driver's seat was in the back, open (no cab, canopy). The unit was developed on the chassis frame, there are places for the installation of various removable equipment, a mower and a cultivator are placed under the frame. It was successfully used in rural areas as a small off-road truck.
-In 1967, the self-propelled chassis was modernized, which received an air-cooled diesel engine with a capacity of 25 hp, a new gearbox and the designation T-16M, a frame cabin was already installed on it. The carrying capacity has also increased due to the use of wheels of an increased standard size. The installed gearbox allowed the driving speed to be reduced to 1.6 km / h. This advantage made it possible for unlimited use not only in agriculture, but also in other jobs. -Since 1986, they began to produce the modernized self-propelled chassis T-16MG, on which a full-fledged cabin and an improved diesel engine D-21A1 were installed, the power remained the same - 25 hp. Improvements have affected many components and mechanisms, the reliability of the unit has increased. In 1995, the production of the T-16MG tractor was discontinued. Further improvement of the self-propelled chassis is carried out only by the owners of the equipment. Their efforts are aimed at the manufacture of universal additional equipment, which is installed and successfully operated.
- The efforts of the owners are aimed at creating a universal hydraulic hitch, to which agricultural implements are attached: a plow, a row cultivator, a seeder, a potato digger, a hiller. It is equipped with equipment that is completely self-made at home. These adaptations make it possible to use the equipment as a front-end loader, tree-tree loader, hinged lift, grab, excavator. Semi-trailers and tipper semitrailers are used for the delivery of various cargoes. The front drive axle is attached to the self-propelled chassis and a mechanical winch is installed, thereby increasing the machine's cross-country ability. The T-16 tractor is not as powerful and functional as let's say the same Tractor K-701 but he does his job with a bang.
Also, we suggest you watch a video about how potatoes are harvested using this unit.

Do-it-yourself modernization of the T-16 tractor, as you can see, is not simple, but quite profitable, so before deciding on such a step, calculate how much you will spend on it, and how much you can earn in the end. Whatever you decide, we wish you good luck and all the best until next time!
Gearbox (checkpoint) of tractors T-16 provides the unit with seven forward gears and one reverse. The gearbox shafts are located across the longitudinal axis of the chassis, due to which the longitudinal dimensions of the transmission are reduced and rotation is transmitted to the differential using cylindrical gears.
The transmission of torque from the engine is carried out through the gear of the tapered shaft of the main clutch to the driven gear (in the figure, pos. 4), which is installed on the splines of the end of the input shaft (pos. 8) of the gearbox of the T-16 tractor. On the input shaft, there are also movable gear blocks (item 7) of the second and third gears, the fifth and sixth (item 6) gears and a stationary gear (item 9) of the fourth gear. The pinion gear (key 10) of the first gear is mounted on a parallel key. This gear is permanently meshed with the large gear (key 11) of the reverse block.
The gear blocks (pos. 56) of the fifth and sixth gears, the differential and the second gear (pos. 54), the third gear (pos. 55) are stationary on the secondary shaft (pos. 46); gears of the fourth gear and reverse (pos. 53), the first and slower gears (pos. 52) are movably mounted. In the lower part of the transmission housing, the axle of the block (pos. 12) of the reverse gear and additional gear is mounted on ball bearings. Also on the axle there is a block of gears (pos. 11) of reverse gear. The creeper gear, which is manufactured together with the block axle, is constantly meshed with the idler gear (key 68).
Gear shifting of the T-16 tractor (diesel D-21) is carried out using a lever (pos. 30), which moves the rollers (pos. 17, 18, 31, 32) with rigidly fixed forks (pos. 33, 34, 35, 36). The lever is mounted on a spherical support in the column and is secured against turning by a pin (pos. 25) around the vertical axis. The movement of the lever is limited by the side surfaces of the grooves made in the housing cover. The location and dimensions of the grooves prevent the engagement of two gears at the same time.
Locking mechanism allows you to change gears only when the clutch is completely disengaged. Pressing the clutch pedal causes the roller to move (pos.61) in such a way that its milled sections become opposite to the shift shafts, which allows them to move freely in the axial direction. When the clutch is engaged, the blocking roller enters the grooves of the shift rollers, locking them, while preventing the gears from moving. The travel of the roller (key 61) is limited by the screw (key 59). The shift shafts are locked in neutral with balls (key 57) and springs (key 58).
A plastic handle is screwed onto the upper end of the lever (key 30). At the lower end of the lever is a ball head that fits into the grooves of the gear shift shafts. In order for the lower part of the lever to move only in the required direction, there is a guide link, which is located in the cover of the transmission housing.
A rubber boot (pos. 23), which is put on the lever and secured with a clamping strap on the column, serves to protect the parts of the gearshift mechanism from dust and moisture. To prevent the cases of starting the engine with the gear engaged, there is a starter blocking mechanism, which is mounted in the gear shift column (pos. 22). The gear shift lever (pos. 30) of the T-16 tractor is installed in the slot of the blocking frame (pos. 26), which is rigidly connected to the axle. The axle has a spherical groove, which contains the ball of the lock switch (pos. 27) of the starter. When the gear is turned on with the lever, the frame rotates, which leads to the disconnection of the electrical circuit, which is connected to the starter.
In order to replace the clutch on a T 16 tractor, it is necessary to remove the engine. After removing the engine, we see the clutch basket. In our case, its foot broke off, and the rivets that secure the spline hub of the disc loosened on the clutch disc.
When installing a new basket and disc, they must be centered relative to the support bearing located inside the crankshaft. This is usually done using the input shaft.
I have never had to repair this particular tractor before. Structurally, it is very similar to the T-40, but this is only a visible similarity. And therefore, during its repair, we had to meet with difficulties. We need a primary shaft with a glass, which is inserted into the gearbox housing. But we could not remove it, since the glass has a slot.
Which allows the drive gear of the power take-off shaft to mesh with the driven gear of the power take-off shaft, it is this gear that prevents the glass from leaving the gearbox housing. In order to remove the gear, you need to remove the power take-off shaft.
In the clutch housing under the input shaft there is a plastic cover, under which there is a support bearing for the PTO shaft and a circlip that holds the PTO shaft.
Naturally, in order to remove it, it is necessary to remove the propeller shaft of the hydraulic pump drive and the front cover of the power take-off shaft.
But the semi-axle does not allow to unscrew the rear plastic cover of the power take-off shaft. And it is removed along with the final drive and the band brake housing.
And so, having disassembled half of the tractor, we still managed to remove the input shaft. replace the release bearing, oil seals and center the clutch basket and clutch disc.
Self-propelled chassis transmission SSh-2540 (T-16MG, T-16)
The transmission (power train) of the self-propelled chassis is used to transfer rotation (torque) from the engine shaft to the driving wheels. It consists of a clutch, main and final (final) gears.
The main gear is a single unit consisting of a gearbox, differential, differential lock, brakes, final drives, independent and synchronous power take-off shafts. This combined unit is housed in one housing.
The transmission ensures smooth starting and stopping of the chassis, changing the travel speed and tractive effort, as well as changing the direction of travel.
The figure shows a diagram of the transmission of a self-propelled chassis. SSh-2540 (T-16MG, T-16M) , and also the table shows the power train gears and the number of teeth.
Rotation from the engine crankshaft D-120-44 (45) transmitted through the clutch SSh20.21.055 the main shaft of the clutch SSh20.21.126-1A and power take-off T16.37.198.
From the main shaft of the clutch SSh20.21.126-1A rotation is transmitted through a bevel gear SSh20.37.103 to the input shaft of the gearbox SSh20.37.102.
From input shaft SSh20.37.102. rotation is transmitted to the output shaft through the movable cylindrical gears of the corresponding gears SSh20.37.115A with fixed gears and from it through a small cylindrical gear T16.38.118A differential SSh20.37.069.
From differential through axle shafts with gears T16.39.105A and T16.39.104A rotation is transferred to the final drive gears DSSH14.39.106B and driving wheels.
On a self-propelled chassis, the transmission provides seven forward gears, including one slow and one reverse.
The gearbox of the self-propelled chassis is a mechanical two-shaft, four-way with a transverse arrangement of shafts with spur gears and a locking mechanism for switching.
Self-propelled chassis clutch SSh20.21.055 is designed to disconnect the power transmission mechanisms from the engine crankshaft, which is necessary for a short-term stop of the chassis and engaging the required gear.
In addition, the clutch allows you to gradually connect the rotating shaft of the engine with the stationary mechanisms of the power transmission, provides a smooth start of the chassis from a place.
At the same time, the clutch protects the power train and engine parts from damage when the diesel engine speed changes abruptly.
Self-propelled chassis SSh-2540 (T-16MG, T-16M) a permanently closed double-acting clutch is used, which directs power from the diesel engine to the gearbox and to the independent power take-off at the same time.
Clutch type - frictional, single-disk, dry friction, permanently closed with an additional clutch PTO .
A simple two-satellite differential is used on a self-propelled chassis. SSh20.37.069 ... The differential is designed to transmit rotation to the right and left driving wheels at the same speed during straight-line chassis motion and at different speeds when turning the chassis and driving on uneven surfaces.

The self-propelled chassis has two dry band brakes designed to quickly stop the chassis, move safely downhill and hold it in place during stationary operation. Brakes are located in the sleeves T16.38.101 and T16.38.102 connecting the final drives with the main gear housing.
Final drives are used to reduce the number of revolutions of the driving wheels of the self-propelled chassis.
The final drive housings are attached to the outer flanges of the hoses and support the final drive housing.
Right-hand and left-hand final drives, except for the length of the shafts of small gears (T16.39.104A and T16.39.105A) are the same.
Each of the final drives consists of a housing - final drive housings SSh20.39.139B and SSh20.39.101B , small and large gears T16.39.104A and T16.39.105A, rear wheel axle A25.39.026.
