Good evening, there is a cartridge from this subject, a plastic guide pin is broken off, https://my.housecope.com/wp-content/uploads/ext/2697/i178/1702/7a/f7136b5339f6.jpg

What are your thoughts on restoration, put on glue, dichlorethane? I'm afraid he won't stand it.

Superglue will give you a ride ..
I will even say more, without it it will work too.

Without it, it cracks and falls into a motor error

The spring-loaded plastic that presses the cartridge down, on the left, in place?

A couple of times I restored the case in these cartridges. but I don’t remember the pin.
(2) is the cartridge really not the problem?
boytronic (0): What are the thoughts on restoration As an option (if it "passes"): drill a hole and screw the screw in the direction from the drum unit, you can glue it.

(3) in place
I put (1) and (4) on the glue, we'll check it tomorrow.

It cracks, mostly when the teeth fell off on the photovalue at the gears of poor quality. Now I looked at 2 cartridges, both have no longer this pin, and both print perfectly.

There was a case when it cracked due to the “absence” of side guides on the cartridge case.

I understood what else the troubles are, the axis of the drum, the plastic of the khan is on the side cover

And there is no right side guide (broken off).

(9) As an option: cut off the remnants of plastic, put a ring made of some kind of vinyl or nylon on the axle. sort of cut off the medigolok from the cap.
(10) Vito (4): drill a hole and screw in the screw from direction. cartridge (or screw)))

Video (click to play).

For these cartridges, even for originals, the body crumbles and cracks remarkably, even in seemingly safe places. Only unless it is crushed into toner itself.

What is Xerox 3100 and what is it eaten with?

Currently, many manufacturers practice selling other people's developments (absolutely legally, on a contractual basis) under their own trademarks. Xerox has been using this technique for a long time. Xerox does not develop small-class devices, but negotiates with other manufacturers. The Xerox Phaser 3100MFP / S multifunctional machine is no exception. There is also a version of this machine with fax and ADF options for the Xerox Phaser 3100MFP / X. There is information (unfortunately no official confirmation has been found yet) that this model is a clone of the Sagem MF5462 / MF5482n.
In addition to Xerox'a, other companies are also interested in the release of this MFP under their own trademarks. So, for example, in nature there are: Ricoh Aficio ™ SP 1000S / SP 1000SF, OKI B2500 / 2520/2540 MFP (new OKI MB260 models have appeared), Konica-Minolta pagepro 1480MF. There may be other clones. All of these devices have the same basis. But their differences are not only in design and software. There are differences in hardware.

Here we take for the base model Xerox Phaser 3100MFP / S, as the most common of this line of MFPs at the time of this writing. This device impresses with its relatively low price. The descriptions contain very good characteristics. But he (like his brothers in mind) has a serious drawback, from the point of view of a domestic user: too expensive consumables.

You have purchased this unit, unpacked it and started using it. Some time passed and the machine started to complain: "Toner is low". And a little later, he blocked himself with the message: "Toner is empty" (an interesting point: this is not a "clumsy translation", the English menu contains the phrase "Toner empty", although how can black powder be empty? 🙂).

This is where the fun begins. You have 4 ways.

Buy a new original cartridge.

Buy an original refueling kit (toner bottle and smart card).

Buy compatible toner and compatible smart card (sold separately).

Reprogram some of the memory chips on the formatter board and refill the cartridge with compatible toner.

In the first and second cases, you retain the manufacturer's warranty. In the third case, this warranty is questionable, although the service centers are unlikely to be able to prove that the defect appeared due to the use of a smart card. The fourth case unambiguously deprives you of the manufacturer's warranty, since it is associated with opening and changing the electronic and software parts of the device.
True, the Ricoh Aficio ™ SP 1000S / SP 1000SF has another option. In the user menu of the device, you can disable the smart card demand lock (which in no way voids your manufacturer's warranty).
The first 3 options from a technical point of view do not present anything difficult and are of little interest for further consideration :) If you have: curiosity, common sense, brains and "straight" hands, you can try the 4th option. We will talk about him.

Theoretical part

Now let's go through the content. Below is the dump read from 24C16. Currently, it has been somewhat deciphered. Note: the record goes from right to left, the address of something means the address of the beginning of a word. A word can be either single-byte or consist of several bytes. Characters corresponding to hexadecimal codes have no meaning and can be displayed differently in different encodings.

And this lady was read from 93AA46 with a jumper installed between the 1st and 4th legs. The same can be read if you put a jumper 1-4 instead of a microcircuit on the programmer socket. This once again confirms the above: the jumper does not block writing to 9346, but only sets the required logic level at the output of the microcircuit.

Unblocking by toner

Now let's pay attention to another element of the formatter board: m / s 93AA46B. Solder a jumper between the 1st and 4th legs of the microcircuit. This will prevent the toner percentage counter from decreasing further, and will also prevent some error messages from occurring.

We check the quality of the soldering (you can use a magnifying glass). Soldering jambs can cause an error (for example, flash plug init), kill the microcircuit or board. The pictures show more than the same microcircuit. It's just that different pictures were obtained from different boards. I have posted the most successful ones here. And the fact that the marking is different is that one mikruha left the assembly line at the 38th week of 2009, and the other at the 16th.
If everything is in order, turn on the device, wait for the inscription: "Ready". We check the counters of scans / prints, toner (%). If you used one of the below dumps, it should be 0/0, 100%. We turn off the device. We close the 7th leg 24C16 to the 8th (see the picture above). Please note: the 7th leg should not be in contact with its native platform on the board.
We turn on the power. And we have the following: all counters are zero, toner is 100%.We make a print - the toner is already 99%. We print, copy, scan ... Turn off / on: again all counters by zeros, toner - 100%. We put the covers in their places, screw the screws ...

To date, I have (so far a single) experience of a similar procedure on OKI B2500MFP. The formatter board is somewhat different there. Instead of 24C16, there is 24C64 - the same, only more capacity, and instead of 93AA46B - 93C45 (there is information that there are other chips). The photo below shows the OKI B2500MFP formatter board.

After "file revision" the board takes the form:

In addition to the above: the Xerox 3100 has another brother. His name is Konica-Minolta PagePro 1480MF. Not much is written about him on the official website. But nevertheless, the drivers are present. Recently, at the StartCopy conference, a message appeared about the successful feeding of this animal with a card, followed by reading the memory chips. The information was sent by Sergey (aka SeN). I will give the text indicated in the message (comments are in italics). “The device has microcircuits ATMLH93616B (i2c memory) and ATMLU93846D (microware memory). A card (not original) was installed and immediately after receiving it the device was turned off and the microcircuits were read. 46 was read for statistics Software version v2.07d, Firmware V. 1.2 220V ". Taking into account the fact that Sergey posted the dumps for open access to a file hosting service, I will allow myself to duplicate it within the framework of this project.
There is a very serious suspicion that this Konik is a one-to-one Xerox 3100 (electronic part). In any case, people were flashing 24C16 with dumps from Xerox and everything worked.
